It is interesting to read that the Campaigners that lost the vote for staying in the EU want another vote. Why I ask When there was a clear majority wanted to come out of the EU. After a vote on anything there is always an element that claim they got their vote wrong and the losers will always claim that this applied to a lot of people.
The problem I have with all of this is the fact both of the main political parties were against leaving. So the reality is no matter who of the parties is negotiating with the EU their heart isn't really in it.
The biggest mistake I think the current government has made is not to have made the negotiators cross party. That way to a point all main political parties take the blame for the final outcome. T May no matter how well she does is on a hiding to nothing. At least one of the major political parties is going to vote against any deal just so they can climb on the anti band wagon. The real turmoil has yet to start in my view............

Democracy didn’t end on June 23rd 2016. Now that the consequences of leaving the EU are beginning to come more clearly into focus, it can only be right that the electorate are given a say on the final deal.

You are right about one thing though; the real turmoil is yet to start. We have a chance to stop this self inflicted disaster. I’d like to see us take it, and not be enslaved by a decision 52% of the electorate took 2.5 years ago.

52% is a clear vote for i don't know. This is why the constitutions of a lot of countries require a supermajority before making massive constitutional changes, especially ones that can't be undone. for example, the Montenegro independence referendum required 55%, that way you know its not going to dip below a majority before the measure is implemented. right now the polls again show a majority in favour of remaining.

I was reading earlier today that of the seven areas that most wanted to leave, four of them have now reversed that decision, and would like to remain.
People are now waking up to reality.

Now idiots are blaming Grande for wearing a short dress, while she was dressed exactly as she always does. I will give the Bishop the benifit and say he meant nothing, but nowadays its a dangerous game to try and put your arm around another person.

Although I haven't trusted Frank Field since I found out that he was a friend of Thatcher and his proposals for punative welfare reform, his suggestions that there maybe a culture of "bullying in the Labour Party" are a little bit worrying.
I can remember Derek Hatton and his Militant mob running Liverpool in the 80s, Alan Bleasdale's excellent satire GBH cast a light on their actions at the time and I wonder whether Momentum might be acting in the same intimidating manner.
His claims that Corbyn, a man who has fought and campaigned for inclusivety and equality in society all of his political career, is an anti-semite are ludicrous though.

Yes, but think that thought through. It would be because we are putting a massive amount of money and effort into a decision we’re not sure about and opinion changing half way through implementation Exactly the situation a supermajority would have solved. But the mistake has been made now. You can’t avoid correcting it just because it would highlight that you made a mistake.

We had a long discussion about this a while back on here. But the short of it is that we end up with the worst of both worlds. We lose our say in EU rules but still have to follow them or are heavily affected by them. Both sides are unhappy and don’t get what they want so what’s the point?
I’d still rather be as close as possible to the EU but that doesn’t mean I’m happy.

Frank Field has lost a no confidence vote in his local constituency party due to his continually propping up the government over Brexit. He jumped before he was pushed, deeply resents the left of the Labour Party, and is determined to make as much trouble for Corbyn as he can.

London urgently needs a housing program, aimed at ordinary working people, on a massive scale Imps. A housing market that is all about investment and not about homes is destroying the character of this city, and making life here impossible for anyone but the independantly wealthy.

That’s not sour grapes, I got on the housing ladder in 1992 and on paper I’m sitting on a pot of gold. But my son’s generation is screwed, unless something changes they will have no future in their home town.

Read the article but got confused by the seemingly interchangeable use of council housing and social rented properties. Are they including housing associations or not? Are they including selling to a housing association to be a loss of socially rented housing? How about conversions to affordable?

Ok so the spreadsheet loaded on my home computer, didnt on my mobile. I can see she's just talking about true social rented and not including (not very) affordable. if you include affordable is generally a net gain. so this is really the affect of the governments encouragement for switching to their flagship affordable scheme. This won't just affect regeneration. Even my association is switching half of vacant social rented properties to affordable tenancies, with basically all new builds either being affordable or market.

This IPPR thing is being hawked around all over social media by prominent left wing figures (which is fine) but I'm not sure who they get to proof read their own self-promotion................that is unless they really means "racial change" and not "radical change." If the former I have no idea if they want our government to do something Zimbabwe/South Africa influenced or not:
