No jokes or memes about lefty’s, but can say what you like about the right? Seems par for the course on here
Have to be honest here Jasper, not sure why that’s necessary. If it had been a Trump meme with Putin, people would have been fine with it.
Labour’s Holiday Tax (Air Passenger Duty) Under the new rates, a family of four flying economy class to Disneyland Florida will face a tax bill of £408, equivalent to £102 per person.
They were already paying 350ish I think so it's not a new tax, just an increase to an existing one. If a family of 4 are off to Florida on holiday, I'm pretty sure an extra 60 quid won't be a deal breaker
Oddly, the Mail and GB news didn't flag it as a 15% increase; instead their headlines suggested it was a new tax introduction. Labour's £400 tax hit on family holidays - Mail Labour’s £400 holiday tax to hit families with highest ever levies on flights - GB News Designed deliberately to reel in the gullible, the people who never read beyond the headline.
I’m starting to feel sorry for all those private schools that will have to start charging VAT from January. If one or two students drop out they will really start to feel the pinch. PRIVATE schools attended by top Tories are sitting on half a billion pounds in cash reserves. Some boast horse-riding departments, shooting ranges, golf courses and even a vineyard. Nine shadow cabinet members went to private schools that can call on an average of £45million in unrestricted reserves – which they can spend on anything. Top of the list is Eton – which shadow leader of the house Jesse Norman attended – with nearly £200m in the year to August 2023. Westminster, where shadow work and pensions secretary Helen Whately did A-Levels, had over £88.5m in the year to June 2023. She also went to Woldingham in Surrey which has £22.5m and has opened a vineyard on its 700-acre estate. Millfield School in Somerset has more than £55m. It is blessed with an equestrian centre with nearly 30 staff and stables for 90 horses, as well as a shooting range and a golf course.
Oh that’s ok then. Just more taxes on hardworking people. No big deal then. You guys are embarrassing
Ah, but when the Tories taxed us, we clearly deserved to pay, as doubtless explained by our Lords and Masters, whereas if Labour make further attempts to obtain anyone's hard-earned income, it's worse than being made homeless, and far worse than being thrown to the wolves.
It's not a tax on anything essential, and doesn't affect the majority of the population. I genuinely don't see a problem with flights becoming more expensive
