We may jest but it's affected family and friends in education and work.If the UK was still in the EU these lads could jump on a ferry and find work in Germany as happened in the 80s .

This to from the orange one.Massive cyber attack on Ukrainian government websites.
I should add that this is from an aesthetic POV. Rowner in Gosport is the naval equivalent.
This chat could lead on to a discusión about whether a strong military is beneficial to a nation's económic and social well-being! Having sampled living in Russia in 2013, when Putin was in the process of rebuilding Russia's military might, I would say not as I could see where money could be better spent as on its crumbling roads, public buildings (the stairwells at the Ural University were also in a dangerous state, and my friends there thought that the standard of public education was not as good as in previous years.
North Korea and the USA are other examples where money spent on the military, would be better spent improving services and infrastructure.
Having a strong military also has a social and cultural impact on a nation's social and cultural mindset. We see it in the UK! When I lived in Fareham I would often watch BBC South and every week there was a topic around the armed forces such as the role the Spitfire played in WW2. Why bring it 60 or 70 years later.
As a nation I would rather celebrate the engineering achievements of Isambard Brunel, the writings of our great writers, our scientific geniuses, our arts and músic.
He actually gets even more ridiculous when he suggests the US should do that on their southern border. The US already owns that land. Unless he means declare parts of northern Mexico “independent” and send in the troopsThis to from the orange one.
Donald Trump has said that Vladimir Putin is “very savvy” and made a “genius” move by declaring two regions of eastern Ukraine as independent states and moving Russian armed forces to them.

The only reason putin tries this is because there is a pre-existing separatist movement in those regions. There aren’t chunks of northern Mexico who want to split from Mexico and join the US. It is just baffling
The French, Spanish historically and of late the Germans but that's more the battle of the loungers by the pool.Canada?
Lindsey Hoyle is a complete nonentity compared to Bercow. His behaviour regarding Caroline Lucas was disgraceful, but as well as that, after PMQ’s a number of Points of Order were raised concerning answers Johnson had given, some of them blatant lies such as saying Alex Salmond was still a member of the SNP. Hoyle made no attempt to try and make Johnson stay to address these points, so the corrections will be done in written form, just like Chris Bryant’s point of order on Monday correcting Johnson’s lie about Roman Abramovich having been sanctioned was. The precedent has now been set for the Prime Minister to tell blatant lies in the House without fear of being called out. All this is yet another nail in the coffin of the government’s being held to account, and another step towards totalitarian rule by this bunch of proto-fascists.Thought that the Speaker in the House was totally out of order, telling Caroline Lucas to hurry up with her question, yet completely allowing her comments to be shouted down by the Tory rabble, causing her to stop speaking.
It wouldn’t have happened under Bercow’s control.
One thing I have learned, over the years, is that compared to other governments around the world the behaviour of our MPs is utterly disgraceful.
I am not surprised by Putin's assault of Ukraine but wish the West would keep their noses out. The whole scenario has been prompted by the desire to expand Nato further eastwards. I am not sure we should really wanting to form pacts with counties like Ukraine whose relationship with Russia is such that it would be difficult to decide exactly who were on the "good side. "
The BBC coverage yesterday was poor in relation to the opposition to any UK intervention. It hardly got any coverage and little was made of "Stop the War" issuing a statement. The coverage of Jermey Corbyn criticising UK intervention was framed in a context with both showed the lack of interest within parliament of any political parties to view this matter with any caution and the was at the same time typcial of the BBC's distain for JC. In my opinion, he is one of the few politians in the UK talking any sense.
Without doubt, Putin's actions are atrocious. However, no one seems to be reporting just how the Russian public are viewing this and whether they share his anymosity towards Ukraine. Unless this de-escalates, I can see this eventually affecting the Baltic states and even Poland. The West's decision to arm the Ukraine army was rash and irresponsible. In my opinion, the West should step aside and let things take their course. I am not convinced that Putin would ultimately survive a protracted and dangerous war in Ukraine and think that this has the potential for him to ultimately undermine himself.
Nato involvement will only exacerbate the problem. I am more and more convinced that we should quit Nato as soon as is possible. Just as well that we can no longer be part of an EU army. Does anyone else agree that it is time for the UK to become neutral ?

Are you sure? We've been given to understand that once enacted they would be cast in stone never to be revoked. The incredible tyranny under which Canada has laboured for the past week is over, as with the blockades dispersed, the Emergency Act has been revoked. Truly they were the darkest times.
