Yeah follow in the footsteps of Blair, Cameron etc trying to identify with the common man. Not to say some politicians weren't genuine boyhood supporters, Roy Hattersley (Sheffield W) and Alan Johnson (QPR) spring to mind.
    Cynical moi?

I know someone who went to school with Sunak. He’s genuinely a big Saints boy.

He’s a money guy with a high finance background who has married into extreme wealth

Why has he not had a word somewhere to a prospective buyer by now

You know what I think if he left politics he would just do that.

From what I have read about him he is a genuine fan - used to go to St Mary's etc and follows us through thin and thin.

    Here's how it could go:

Boris out this month, Rishi in.

Come April/May another crisis, another leadership challenge. He leaves front bench politics.

Rishi's father in law buys the company for him.

We win the 2023 Premier League.

(You wouldn't believe I am still not drinking)

I can't believe people's opinion of Rishi Sunak is based solely on his being a Saints fan.

Never forget he is part of Johnson's inner cabal who purged the Tory Party of any independent thought and positioned them as a proto-fascist far-right group. They do not care about you, or anyone who isn't colluding with them in grabbing more and more power (and money). Those allies include the Chinese government and Vladimir Putin, both of whom helped fund the Brexit fiasco.

He is scum, I don't want him anywhere near my football club.

Lol I think most of the posts (mine at least) should have been posted in blue, but it made me chuckle i'll be honest to see your fence sitting feelings. I don't know why you don't tell us what you really feel <laugh>

Don't worry, Chilcs, I don't think anybody is really basing their opinion on his support! Any port in a storm type blue writing. That's how low we've sunk!

See, Cortese could ride in on a white horse with the combined might of Genghis Khan and the Third Reich behind him, and many Saints fans would throw their hats in the air with joy.

I would be quite pleased myself…

And this is what the Tories are up to in Portsmouth, as a measure of their corruption:

I never expressed any positive opinion at all. I even say above that he only seems popular for handing out furlough cash that he basically had no choice to do - and delayed it as much as he could and still put businesses first

    I know he is horrendous

my post wasn’t even asking for him to buy the club! Or his father in law for that matter. More that you’d think he would know some rich people.

But he is so greedy and so money obsessed and so must be those he mixes with because they all realise that owning a premier league club is just throwing money away. And clearly none of them will do that.

If you look a Leeds the best chance could be getting relegated to decrease the value and a new owner getting us promoted as they have surged in value . But that is likely based on multiple things such as bigger stadium and fanbase

You can only hope that it affects them in the Portsmouth ballot boxes at the next election but I doubt it, Pompey is as true blue a city as you can find.

Sunak strikes me as being the least-objectionable of the realistic contenders to lead the Tories, but that mostly speaks to how objectionable the others are.

    I hope so.

I think Boris thought that so long as there was no evidence of the smoking gun he’d be able to ride it out. The opinion polls might make the Tory party leadership committees think it’s time to move him aside now, though.

Sunak has nice teeth, but he’s still a proto-fascist.
