If people were asked to pay for parking at a public hospital here in Spain it would spark.the biggest of demonstrations. Why didn't we do.the same when this was proposed in the UK? I see that in the UK drivers now pay a fee to pick up someone at the airport or drop someone off, even for 5 minutes. Here in Palma de Mallorca, there is 15 minutes gratis.
It is called capitalism. It is where the already rich take more money from the poor. the sick, the needy and the elderly.
So NI is going to rise, very good business sense, not! The fairest way would be vía income tax, but for me it would be a penny increase on fuel duty. Or maybe both!
Where I worked for 36 years, the RUH in Bath, staff parking was (I think) set at 2% of your gross salary, but capped at £35 per month. This, of course meant that lower-paid staff were paying a much higher percentage of their income than the top earners. Of course, if there wasn’t a parking space left by the time your shift started and you had to find a spot outside the hospital, tough ****, the money was still removed from your salary before you received it, Most corporate bodies like hospitals and airports outsource their parking to be run by private companies nowadays, and of course they are profit-making organisations. As you can imagine, I always loved the fact that I was paying a private company to park my car while I worked for the NHS!
Surprised teachers are not having to do this, or perhaps they are nowadays. Meanwhile, Mogg pays zilch on his millions!! (Apologies for using such a disgusting and vile word in last sentence)
Pretty much every claim in this video is the opposite to reality, or as they called it then, Project Fear.
Funnily enough, I went to an event where he spoke on Sunday, believe it or not. It was the annual Double Hills memorial ceremony in Paulton, which commemorates the first lives lost in Operation Market Garden in September 1944. A glider carrying 21 Royal Engineers to the Arnhem drop became detached from its towing plane and broke up in mid-air, killing the sappers and both pilots on a Somerset hillside. For some reason they hold the ceremony on the first Sunday in September, even though the actual incident took place on the 17th, but never mind. Anyway, the Moggster, as the local MP, spoke his piece about sacrifice, and how it would always be the case that young people would have to lay down their lives in wars. I found myself becoming angrier and angrier, and my wife and I refused to applaud at the end of his smug, self-satisfied speech. I don’t think we were the only ones.
When you want a good dump with a clean wipe all you get with this bunch of chocolate starfish is skid marks and a musty odour.
Wonder how much poorer the average Brit is than in 2008? (I actually agree with tax rises for social care, although I’m not sure if NI was the right way to go, but it prompted the question in my mind).
I know what your saying but No 1 on the agenda is HGV driver shortage is 100% down to Brexit. Extra paperwork, visas and made to feel not welcome can never be blamed on covid.
Yeah no arguments from me either though I also don't think it should have been NI. Long overdue for the social care system too and will hopefully have an impact on the health service as well.
One thing Starmer has got right in recent weeks is putting it out there that people making their money from stocks, dividends, rent from properties etc will not pay a penny more. The rich landlord pays no NI on rent, but his working tenants will have to pay more.
That’s sorted. Johnson said on the steps of Number 10, when elected, that he had a Social Care plan ready to roll out. Have faith.
I listened to short interview with Ash Sarker, who works for independent media and is, I believe, a communist, not that that should distract from what she has to say because she is very good at getting to the point of unfairness. During the interview she raised a very valid point. If it is okay for tenants to have the right to buy council/social housing at discounted rates, why is it not okay for tenants in private housing to have the same right to buy the house they are renting? Could it be because the Tories are hell bent on destroying social housing and forcing more people into private housing to further fill the pockets of party donors, as well as their own?
I don't know who needs more help. You for listening to him, or the speaker himself for his mád witterings.
