Shame neither are nice people. Me hoping May will be PM is something I never thought I would say. But Leadsom scares the **** out of me.

That's more like the final of The British Bake Off, The country will be like being run by the Women's Institute...

We definitely mucked that one up. For example, a few of us made a bit of a song and dance on here about it, but when nobody took any real interest I had a good idea it was doomed. It pre-dated the Politics thread.

I'm the reverse. May is too domineering and is reported to not delegate whereas Leadsom's inexperience will require to build a better team around her and therefore there should be less narrow vision.

These aren't the 2 I would've picked but then thats MPs for you. They never seem to choose the ideal ones. I would have chosen Jacob Rees Mogg but then a lot of people hate others just because they are posh so he would be unelectable.

Nick Clegg sold the country down the river for that, it was never going to enthuse the hoi poloi enough to get the right result, but I agree that should it have been to change to PR then politics would be a lot more representative and healthier for the country in general.

They say that if the EU referendum had been run as first past the post it would have ended up as 440 Leave / 220 Remain.

He's vaguely amusing as a backbencher but not as a PM. People (in general not necessarily you) have got to stop thinking they are electing someone just to negotiate the brexit. This is the PM potentially until 2020 and there will be a lot more to do than the brexit. Everything else won't just be put on hold. I'm hoping they go for experience.

Not when that experience is May. Did you see the vote today in parliament? Non binding but they put a motion to assure EU nationals of their rights in this country and the result was 242 - 2.

Of course Theresa May was not mentioned but it is a result of her foolish words last weekend and that is a resounding loss for her already.........and she isn't even PM yet.

Love your positivity mate, you will have to do a match thread next season. Not sure I see it the same way. A female conservative prime minister, what's the worst that can happen?

It was such a shame that we ended up voting on AV than PR and the case wasn't sold well enough either.

Ironically, I can't help but think if Nick Clegg's rise in 2009-10 was happening now then he'd wipe the floor with Corbyn and Leadsom/May.

I don't get what people have against Theresa May? Is it that she reminds people of the Iron Lady too much? She's an excellent politician, and has proven that as Home Secretary.

Respect your opinion and she may well make a decent pm. As for excellent politician or home Secretary, there will be many affected by her decisions in the police or boarder agencies who will differ.

She is nothing like the Iron Lady (at least not the "good" years.) She is already at the stage Thatcher was when she was removed from office and that is the problem. Will not listen to advice, will not delegate and dictatorial.

I put the inverted commas because I know it is a subjective description and one we can all have a difference of opinion on.

Was terrific on leavers moaning at the metropolitan elite: "When you lose election, you don't just throw your arms up in the air and say, yeah fair enough, you were right. You keep making the arguments. You don't shut up for 5 years."

They lit the fire, and then buggered off.
