I'm voting Lib Dem. I want a government that will have the courage to govern. I'm not interested in another people's vote I don't care about 6 tests or a people's Brexit. I believe any flavour of Brexit is fundamentally and catastrophically wrong for Britain on so many levels. Only the lib dems have planned to revoke A.50, that's a powerful promise and will hold weight with a lot of the 16.4 million who voted to remain and now feel abandoned by both of the big 2 parties.

I am supporting and working for the Lib Dems. But don't just vote for them willy nilly. Find out the last result in your constituency and vote Labour if they are the most likely challenger to the Tory.

Around this time of year I usually get asked to be father Christmas for lots of children's parties. So far I have had none. Has Christmas been cancelled FFS? Has Johnson not only wrecked the economy but ****ed up everyone's Christmas. I know that Christmas will be a miserable affair in this household if people are stupid enough to re-elect the twat.

I'm a member of the lib dems, I'll be voting for them because of what they say they'll do

That’s admirable but they won’t be doing anything if the Tories get in with a majority so if there’s a likelihood of it being a Tory then you may want to think about who is most likely to beat them in your constituency

If theres a Brexit candidate it may offer you a really good opportunity to make a meaningful vote

I’ll be voting LD because they have the best chance of unseating our Tory MP

You may remember that I posted some weeks ago of Cuadrilla ceasing Fracking in Lancashire. Then they shortly after put out a statement that they had only temporarily halted. Now it appears there is an ongoing suspension imposed by the government which has listened to the science report [hooray, for once]. They stopped short of a ban. Residents don't want it. Protesters don't want it. Environmental groups say it should be banned as it is not safe [they are right, it isn't]. Labour say they will ban it. Ending Fracking in Lancs will effectively mean the whole of the UK:

To be honest though.........it could because the government has realised we may not need so much fuel in the future as the Electric car seems the way we are going don’t you think?

To be honest Beddy, I don't think the present government really knows which way is up, regarding what to do energy wise. All they do know is that when they allow more offshore wind farms, it works out fine. My gut feeling is that they know the decision to shut down Fracking will be popular, and that's all. An election is coming up and nobody, bar Cuadrilla, wants Fracking. So they've made a political decision. Not an environmental one. They can always bring it back, so they are not to be trusted.

On the clean energy front, Wind [especially], Solar, Nuclear, and other clean energy tech, is pushing down prices so hard that Fracking is becoming economically unviable. Even Natural Gas is coming under fire from renewables. The UK is fast becoming the biggest producer, per capita, of wind energy in the world, such is the pace of expansion. We could quite easily provide all our electricity from wind power, but that won't happen. Days of calm see to that, and batteries can't store a whole summer of energy needs. We will need more of them.

Indeed, the battery electric vehicle is where we are heading. Anyone considering buying a new car next year, to keep for 5 years, really needs to do some sums. The 2nd hand value of any FFV will be virtually nothing, whereas the used value of a BEV will hold up extremely well. The running/maintenance costs could hardly be more different - EVs dirt cheap, FFVs huge. Then there is the growing closing down of city access for FFVs. It's all happening out there.

Maybe I’m a bit cynical, but my first thought was just in time for the election.

Yes, we will all be burning electric cars in our homes in the future.

And in effect, we might. Vehicle to Grid charging means that a household could be in the middle of a powercut, and instantly charge power swings around so that the vehicle powers the house. Even a smallish BEV with a decent amount of charge could power a house for a day or two on its own. Add in solar panels [like you already have], and you could kiss the grid goodbye for days on end.

So yeah. It isn't a joke. :1980_boogie_down:

My constituency (I`m ashamed to relate) is held by 4000 votes by (alleged) House of Commons man-groper tory Ross Thompson - the tory investigation has yet to conclude, I should add. The same individual has had to repay expenses claimed for his staying in an Edinburgh hotel with a friend. Anyway, I don`t want this freeloading dodger representing me - this is a marginal seat, and I`ll vote SNP (who won previously) tactically and morally to avoid him getting in again.
Ross Thomson has just resigned ! - probably jumped before he was pushed by his party, so they can get someone else in with more credibility before the election. Not difficult to have more credibility than that slime ball, however.

And regrettably it was ever thus. I think it was 2020 U.S. Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders who recently coined the thought that the rich get the softest Socialism whilst the poor have to live with the fiercest cut-throat form of Capitalism.

In all honesty, I had never thought of it in that way before, but I quickly realised he was absolutely 100% correct.
