Boris's deal is to align NI customs with the EU with a view to reducing custom checks with technology and having goods checked between Ireland and britain and stay that way until either the DUP or Sinn fein veto it and decide to force everyone to use hard borders(unsurprisingly it came out yesterday that last point is a sticking point)
Edit: edit actually I think I'm wrong on this last point it looks like the EU negotiated a requirement for it to be a majority vote and not be done by veto and DUP are unhappy they wont get a veto now.
