What you really seek is political censorship.

Yes that's right. I have the facility to ban you and anybody who posts anything I don't agree with any time I like (and, incidentally, I should really apologise for being a bit trigger happy with the threat on this thread when you first started posting again back in April) and yet I don't use it. But I seek political censorship on here <doh>

Why don't we have a non political political thread so we can all have a love-in until the season starts. I've already put some beads in my hair (if I could find any!!)

We could certainly do that. Or, alternatively, we could have a thread about politics where people may disagree with each other but don't get so confrontational and often personal about it. I do believe we had one of those...

Anyway, I know you disagree and I also know you're not actually the only one so i'll say no more for now.

We are all horns so have more in common than most. I apologise if some of my comments are too spikey, certainly not intended to offend anyone.

I cant believe I am reading this? So anyone who is a minority has not rights? This reminds me of Stalin, Hitler etc etc

and who says the majority have got it right in any case?

Human rights should be for the basic freedoms of all.

I am afraid superorns that I read you as making global stereotyping statements

I guess Fox news is any better? or the Murdoch press?

BBC are on a hiding to nothing... sad because in my view they are probably the best broadcaster world wide... .and the most trusted.... unfortunately it is so easy for people to take a pop at them...

I happen to agree with you Yorkie about the quality of what the BBC produce. But I wish they would stop this dumbing down of the way they present the news to cater for the sensitivities of the Liberal lefties...these people are not migrants, they are illegal economic immigrants. They are portrayed as poor desperate people - yet when they are interviewed why are they not asked how much they paid to travel across Africa and to cross The Med? These are not the poor of Africa, they are paying enormous sums to travel across Africa and Europe.

We are playing word games here. How can a human being be illegal ? This implies that the person's mere existence is criminal. Most of the people in this condition are actually people who have overstayed their visas, which is a civil infraction not a criminal offense. Yet the use of language becomes ever more important because it conditions how the masses think - so, only eg. Moslems can be terrorists - whereas drug crazed racists who storm into churches shooting in all directions are apparently not, the word game emerging again.

That person was a former BBC News boss, I'm sure you would agree he is in an ideal position to make a judgement?. The BBC is probably the best broadcaster worldwide but is full of left leaning executives.

Of course the minorities have rights but not at the expense of the majority. We have a democracy, if the majority feel things are not right they should vote for an alternative. Didn't we just have an election?

cologne, usually the difference between your two examples is that the latter is usually acting on their own and terrorists are in organised groups. I agree with you that it's not only Moslems that can be terrorists - we only have to look closer to home at the IRA.

In certain circumstances, could the use of their armed forces mean that governments could be classed as terrorists?

Certainly some governments could be termed as terrorist organizations - this is another area where language is important - only our enemies are terrorists and not our allies :emoticon-0105-wink:

Sorry, but 37% of an electoral turnout of 67% is a minority anywhere.
