Oh of course and perhaps Murdoch or one of his cronies would run it? and you can advertise all your stuff on it and make even more money? Maybe lots of adverts on loan companies and betting etc?

To me the thing that proves the BBC have got it about right is that the left see it as right wing dominated and the right see it as left wing. I think we all tend to notice reports that we disagree with more than those we support.

I quite like the BBC. It seems to upset both sides pretty equally

I found the earlier posts regarding the right to vote in countries interesting, considering what jerzeypie told me. He is registered to vote here, but as a student in the UK with "full" British nationality*, he could have registered to vote there. He chose not to as he feels that until he leaves the island permanently, he is still a Jersey resident. He will leave the island permanently once he has finished his studies as there are no opportunities here for someone with a degree in motorsport engineering. That information was of interest as I am planning on moving back early next year and it may mean that I can register to vote almost immediately, even though I'll have been here for more than 19 years by then. If that is the case, my first "big" vote will be the referendum on the EU.
*If you're born in Jersey and your parents are British passport holders, "pure" Jersey means that you, both parents and all 4 grandparents were born on the island, so you would need an entry in your passport stating that you require a work permit in order to work in the UK and do not have full British nationality in the eyes of the British Government, even though you can become part of the British Armed Forces. If someone's parents never married, they only look at the mother's family.

yorkie, I noticed that when the BBC covered the reading of the count for the constituency Ed Balls lost, there was a candidate who stood for the Yorkshire First party - is there main policy for an independent Yorkshire? If so, when are they going to get Geoffrey Boycott to be their spokesman given his recent comment that Yorkshire CCC could beat England?

Probably the wrong thread to post this on, but - does anyone know why the BBC & Sky are not covering the riot in London at the moment?
A protest march against the Tories - I guess that explains why - has turned a bit nasty, with riot police in 'attendance'. And it looks like Ed Miliband has already found a new job...

The picture or the story? No matter - both came from twitter. I've only seen two papers reporting it - the Telegraph (outraged that innocent police have been hurt) and the Evening Standard (outraged over the fact that shops have lost business).

Don't insult Cologne - he would never support Fulham.

So is this... When Jim Murphy stage managed an 'SNP riot' in Glasgow last week, with around twenty of his supporters in attendance, the media were all over it, but so far hardly a peep about this...

One of the funniest things about the election is knowing that the undemocratic power of the union barons were key in choosing the wrong brother. There might have been a Labour PM in Downing St tonight.

    Horrible thought.

"Vandals sparked outrage by daubing graffiti on a war memorial as protesters clashed with police ahead of a celebration to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day."

"The graffiti - which read "F*** Tory scum" - was sprayed onto a statue commemorating the role of women in World War Two by protesters as they marched on Downing Street."

Are you suggesting that the protesters were models that the population should look up to?

On a visit to parliament last year my wife and I were caught up in a similar demo. They are professional demonstrators, anarchist scum.

Did anybody see the arrogant message from Sturgeon to end austerity across the whole of the UK. Does she not understand that she is the leader of a relatively small minority party in Westminster which is dwarfed by the two largest parties who both agree that austerity remains the correct policy.

Does she have a secret weapon or simply can't count?

It's complete idiocy OFH. I have no problem with people protesting - in fact I actively encourage it - but that kind of behaviour is unacceptable and does nothing for their cause.

I don't think they're scum. Their behaviour is unacceptable but the kind of people I would reserve that term for have done much worse things.

You might be right that they are professional demonstrators, but I would like to know who it is that is paying them and how you came by this information. I do not accept statements at face value and prefer something to back them up.
