The latest YouGov poll puts the Brexit Party as the clear winner in a future general election.

Jeremy Hunt warns Tories will be 'annihilated' in an early election. As someone was saying earlier on TV, the Tory party has to redefine itself. Offering a worker on £15,000 in the Midlands or North of the country a tax break when he earns £50,000 is totally out of touch with reality. They really don't care about how a government delivers, they want to be able to pay their bills, feed the family, and maybe have enough to go on holiday. In Canada the Conservative party went from being the government to a party with only two seats in a single election. Some projections show that if the squeeze came from left, right and centre, the Tories could be reduced to 24 seats in the UK. No party is likely to form a majority government however you look at it.

A Brexit Party / Tory coalition is the most likely outcome, that could be interesting.

Projections show that the most likely outcome would be a Labour/SNP coalition with Lib and Greens giving unofficial support.

The odds are on the next general election not being held until 2022. This will be well after Brexit with the support for the Brexit Party moving back to the Tories.

It is looking increasingly like a Johnson v Hunt choice for the Tory faithfuls to choose from.

Odds at the bookies tonight are 2/1 for 2019 and 7/4 for 2022. Not much to divide those I guess.

Some comments given by BoJo about his drug sampling have suddenly been removed from the internet. Unfortunately for him things get spread around, and by following various links they are still to be found. On a day when Gove has received a hammering it seems that BoJo has been trying without success to clean up his record. It is little wonder that he doesn't wish to talk to the reporters, but how long can he keep that tactic up?

I have a feeling it could be Hunt that wins, I like some of his ideas and he did extremely well in his Health ministry role. He looks a safe pair of hands. It might take a gaff by Johnson to convince the Tory membership to elect another remainer although Hunt changed his mind over Brexit due to the 'arrogance' of the EU.

  12. Michael Gove doesn't think we should leave without a deal, doesn't want immigration capped at 100000 per year and thinks we need to be more outward facing with our partners including the EU. So he's getting hammered by the mail and torygraph.
Mind the Mail said he's got links to loyalists and has been heard singing proscribed sectarian songs in public so he can bugger off. Can we talk about religious intolerance in the labour party again?

Outside unofficial @Conservatives leadership hustings a leading Brexiteer emerges to rate Sajid Javid and Andrea Leadsom as 'good', Jeremy Hunt as 'fair' and Boris Johnson as 'weak'

Gove's coke use has messed up his chances. If he reached the last two he would be shunned by the party members although very doubtful he will reach that far.

  15. So Boris's drug use is ok? How?

It sounds as if there was a very rowdy meeting of the PLP tonight. Corbyn was heard from outside to be shouting down his critics. They are in a similar mess to the Tories.
    https://www.theguardian.com/politic...sted-by-labour-mps-in-worst-meeting-as-leader

There is a vast swathe of MPs from both sides who must look on with despair at their leaderships, and after the recent elections must wonder what future they have in Westminster.

  17. Yep. We've been let down by them all. I could weep over what's happening to this country.

Seems as if the posters on the Mail have started to see through the Tories.

Sajid Javid is just another Tory politician in denial when he says the Tories "look incompetent". It's far, far worse than that because they have proved themselves to be collectively, TOTALLY INCOMPETENT AND NOT FIT TO GOVERN!!

It was Brexsit that destroyed the Tories. The real damage is coming!

It's commonly accepted by the experts that Brexit will cost the country a fortune and cripple the economy for decades, so why don't we do the sensible thing and scrap it? The general public have largely gone off it anyway, and we could spend the remain dividend money on investing in education, the health service and law and order. The damage Brexit is doing to industry and employment would also be alleviated. It's a win-win solution to our current crisis.

Yes there are still plenty of cavemen, but hasn't opinion changed from the days when you couldn't find any critical comments from the contributors..

I note that on the BBC HYS sections that some Brexiteers have threatened violence if they do not get Brexit. How common is that view?

I wouldn't say it is a common view, but I have certainly seen such remarks coming from supporters of Farage and the even more right wing fans of the English Defence League.
