It would be prudent to wait until after Brexit to forecast much of a permanent change to our two party system. I suspect order will be resumed eventually.

  2. In a constituency where 61% voted out? I never knew you had a PhD

I love the way that everyone claims labour is a pro Brexit party by the way - its version will be so soft that we may as well not leave. And its position is softening by the week.

Interesting that in a constituency where 61% voted for Brexit that only 28% actually voted for the only party which is, unequivocally, for a hard Brexit - and that being from a vastly reduced turnout from that of the general election. Interesting also to see how Labour can actually increase its majority yet our resident WUM declares it a victory - despite his own party slipping to its worst ever performance there (Peterborough was a Conservative seat for 12 years until 2015).

Boris Johnson today challenged the silly and politically motivated court summons over claims made during the referendum campaign. The judge took only 5 minutes to throw it out.

Remainers now need to cling onto something else.

It was a victory for those that wish to encourage Tory MPs and party members in the election of a new Brexiteer PM. The replacement of a Labour jailbird for one accused of being an anti semite will not change much.

With reference to your last sentence - I come on here to engage in debate, not just to read regurgitated crap from one of your comics - if I want to read that I will buy the Mail. It is high time that we were able to actually sort out the difference between real anti semitism, on the one hand, and any attempt to stifle criticism of Israel and its policies on the other. Why do we even need a special code on anti semitism which is over and above existing laws on racial discrimination ?

I would have thought the Jewish organisations accusing her of being an anti - semite have good reason for their claims.

There are currently close on 30 Tory marginal seats where they have a majority of less that 2,000. It only needs Farage to skim off a few votes and the Party would be in serious trouble. There are a similar number of Labour held seats where Farage could have a similar effect, but there is a greater chance of Labour voters switching to remain parties than a eurosceptic party. People say this state has come about because of Brexit not taking place, but Labour held on in Peterborough by doing their best not to talk about it, and just waiting for the Farage effect to come into play.
SH is hoping that there will be a Brexit this year and Farage will disappear off the scene to restore the Tory party. It doesn't matter if we do as it will be too soft or too hard for some in the country, and the discord will continue. It all comes back to the original problem that Brexit has never been defined.

You really need a more sophisticated understanding.... That's if you really want to understand. The pro Israeli lobby is having a field day and the trash media all buy it..

    Read some background....

Brexit was defined as leave. Most leading figures in the debate from both leave and remain agreed, it meant leaving the SM and the CU.

All of the parties said that we would leave with a deal. It was only after the referendum that the more hard line started to talk about a no deal situation. The goal posts were moved, so no, it was not clearly defined. The Tories would not be in their current distress if the agreed position was accepted by all.

The intransigence of the EU should have been expected. The ex Greek finance minister certainly warned of what a bunch of crooks they were in Brussels.

Why is it that the Tories are fighting amongst themselves about what sort of Brexit they want?

    #10196
  17. Mein Kampf didn't have anything about Brexit so they're having to make it up as they go along and are having trouble agreeing. Tories don't do original thought <ok>

Hang on.. You have been banging in about a no deal.. But that is not what the Tory parliamentary party want.. So you are now saying the ERG should have toed the line? Make your mind up once and for all.. And cease pirouetteing around onthe pin head of a no deal. What actually do you want.. Spell it out..
