It is all nonsense just like the trumped up charges against those poor lost Russian tourists in Salisbury. :emoticon-0136-giggl

  3. It's what they do Cologne. Why worry about the log in your eye when you can criticise the splinter in someone else's?

No wonder Labour is 6 points behind in the latest poll. With the Tories current difficulties that is an amazingly bad situation for Labour which should now be 15 points ahead.

The Conservatives risk becoming “a rump party of nostalgic nationalists” senior ministers have said .
The business minister said he expected a full-throated endorsement of capitalism and enterprise or the party would look like a limp version of the opposition.
“When I look at how we on the centre-right have reacted to the perceived failing of capitalism, I can’t help thinking we have lost our way,”. “They [Labour] are speaking to the problems faced by many. We too often speak only for the few”.

So there are people within the government who realise that the party is stuck in the past, unable to go with the modern requirements of the world today. To just keep falling back on what might have worked fifty years ago shows how poorly the party has adapted.

If they are 6 points ahead when not firing on all cylinders, the Tories must be confident for the future. The alternative is seen by the electorate as a rabble.

Actually this is all part of the master plan. If Labour were 6 points ahead then there would be no chance of there being an election in the near future. So the plan is to lull the Tories into a false sense of security. Once an election campaign actually begins that is where the fun starts.

Losing four in a row would be quite funny.

Latest polls show that the two main parties are both on 39% again. They also show that even among the Tories May would wipe the floor with Johnson in a leadership battle. In fact despite all the attention being on him, BoJo is even less trusted by the Tories than by the general public. Is it time for him to leave Westminster and earn his £250,000 a year with the Torygraph as he has really shown up since the Brexit campaign that you cannot believe a word he says?

  11. His last offering was exceptional. Cut the foreign aid budget and spend it on helping Asian countries saving elephants. Honestly...

It might be a good idea to let the electorate in on the secret, it does help getting MPs elected.

Despite the present uncertainties the Tories have returned to head the polls again with a 4 point lead in two of the main polls. It reflects poorly on the opposition parties in the U.K at this turbulent time.

And what lead did the Tories have in polls that persuaded TM to go to the country and lose her majority?

The polls said the Tories would win, which they duly did.

Losing an overall majority from a position where she had one is a funny sort of win. You've got to be pretty barmy to make a case for that one. Unless you want the make up of parliament to be decided by the number of votes cast - so that EVERY party gets seats in proportion to the number of votes cast.

FPTP is the established and preferred method of deciding the make up and colour of Westminster's first chamber. The public understands the rules and whilst voting for its political choice it regularly prefers the Tories over any alternative to govern the country. It is not too difficult to describe them as the winners and the official opposition (Labour) as the losers. One party gets to govern and the other just makes noises.

A recent attempt to change this political system met with apathy and rejection so most seem content to keep it for the foreseeable future.

Missing the point as usual. How did the Conservatives win in 2017 using the Westminster model of FPTP?
Since 1964 - when I became eligible to vote, The Tories have had control of the Commons for 24 years. Labour for 24 years. So 'regularly prefers the Tories' is just more blinkered hogwash.
