Big bounce in the popularity of our President in the latest polls that came out today. Half the population now approve of what he is doing. Rather better than the 30% who think the UK PM is doing a good job.

A more recent poll by the BVCA Institute showed 57% are unhappy with his first 6 months in office, with the most negative opinions recorded among the youngest and the poorest.

    Another poll

Seeing as this one has only just come out this evening, with polling taking place over the weekend, I am not sure how there could be a more recent one.

The IFOP opinion poll was actually published on Sunday. The BVA institute was published on Thursday showing a 57% disapproval rate. If there is any slight improvement it is on the back of a massive decline in popularity, even worse than the hapless Hollande.

I am sure that Mme May would be delighted to have this much approval.

Macron has become the most unpopular French president after six months in office, very poor statistics.

And Mme May lost a majority in Parliament that she had before she thought she was the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't know where the expression about sliced bread comes from Frenchie - have you noticed how superior the French unsliced bread is ? The British must be the worst bread makers in the World.

Totally agree. My visit to the local baker is a joy, and his wife is very nice to. :emoticon-0105-wink:

You have something right at last. There must be an opening for a few of the vast number of French unemployed to train as bakers to provide us with some decent bread.

You don't want them in the country, so enjoy your sliced cotton wool.

They sell a lot of sliced bread in French supermarkets, it is actually worse than the rubbish sold in the UK. Waitrose make some nice bread, I would imagine their grand mange blanc is made with french flour.

But will Waitrose be able to buy French flour with tariffs imposed. You clearly didn't know that proper French bread is bought from a baker. Supermarkets buy in frozen loaves and heat them up in their ovens.

People like us that can afford to shop in Waitrose can afford an extra 5p per loaf.

We had some excellent bakers in Gaillac where we bought our bread, our daughter liked the awful french sliced bread sometimes from the supermarkets.

You are probably confusing it with your Lidl shopping.

Stop trying to make a fool of yourself SH. How many times to I talk about my visit to the baker? You really are living in a very strange world.

I imagine a trip to the baker is the highlight of the day in your rural backwater.
