But if they practice who do they practice against ? modern footballers should be able to play for 90 mins at full steam,if not they shouldn't be on the pitch

Players will always tire. If you are truly pushing yourself in any sport, there will be days when your race is run before 90mins. Once you add in the myriad of other factors like players coming back from injury, players who are not match fit through non selection, or players accumulating fatigue over numerous games, there are many justifiable reasons to not be able to finish a game. As a living thing, the body won’t just repeat over and over again. Apart from the above the body can react to all sorts like how it’s fueled, fighting off illness, having an underlying issue, not being aware of an intolerance, or the individual just being in a bad fettle.

I get why people expect the modern pro to be like a machine. They’ve got **** all excuse not to be fit as fiddle. I just think the margins are there still for loads of reasons. Some are fitter than others as they are dedicated. The ones not as fit then have to match the fitter ones. That tires them trying to match the fitter guys.

In terms of replicating it that is tough but it’s still possible. The coaches won’t want them running around tired out but there are other things you can do. The best managers all seem to have a train as you play mentality.

Don't think any factors come into it apart from injury,it's not like they play every day, they are doing something they love, for me that means putting every thing in for 90 mins, how many times do people on here and other places complain about lazy players, shouldn't happen,if they can't play once or so a week for 90 mins they should chuck it

We would have to agree to disagree. I think players will always have justifiable reasons to get tired during games. I wouldn't advocate having a Ben Arfa belly of course, but there are lots of factors in play as far as I can see with finely tuned athletes. The margins are small at the top but they make a big difference. Hence you get people like Mourinho adopting blood cycling/spinning at Chelsea (highly suspicious of course!). I wouldn't make excuses for these bastards by any stretch, they've got a charmed life.

    All opinions of course too.
