The rollercoaster rumbles on. We're back in front of our mini-me's by a point. 49 points vs 48 from 25 played.
I wondered when you was going to realise this and bring this thread up again. This is a much tougher division than back then. I can't remember what the gap was between us and our rivals? All we can do is keep getting results and hope that the other two have a severe blip, although Lye Cester look very strong. I'd settle for second right now. The game against Sean 'The Dalek's' Burnley on the 1st of next month is a big one, but I have to work and won't know if I can get the day off until the day before. I fear that I may be suffering a bout of man-flu come the end of the month.
We said that back then too about previous seasons. Never mind that sh*te Ninesy Give this a butchers and take a hot Jameson for your man flu: http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2010-2011/table/2011-01-04
Do you have evidence of this? Regardless of that, if that season was replicated as it stands... Lie Cester would go up as champions as we did. The third place team (2011 Norwich... Us ) would secure second spot and the second placed team (2014 Burnley.. 2011 Cardiff ) would miss out. The eighth placed team at this stage of the season ( Reading, now Blackburn) went up at the expense of the second placed Cardiff via the play-offs. I'd rather go up automatically though. Only because I want to get away for a cheeky week in the sun with the family and would rather not have to suffer the play-offs. The sooner we know this the sooner I can start lookin and Thomas Cookin. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2010-2011/table/2011-01-04 http://www1.skysports.com/football/competitions/championship/table
None of what you've just said makes any sense to me mate. Here's the reality: If we keep averaging what we're averaging, not only are we certain to go up in 2nd with points to spare but in all probability we'll win the league an' all. I don't know the stats but I'd be surprised if there was more than one season that two teams averaged more than two points per game. I also guarantee that Burnley will be lucky to make the playoffs. Their falling away starts soon.
What's so hard to understand? In comparison to 2011, Leicester are QPR, Burnley are Cardiff, QPR are Norwich. ( Blackburn are Reading.) Leicester-Champions QPR-Runners up Blackburn play-off winners. Burnley get burned.
Aah, I get ye now Nines. Anyway, we've moved three points ahead of COLIN's heroes. Perhaps more importantly, we're back on the two point per game average. Last time we were on that was after 21 games when we had 42 points, just before Christmas.
This stats are not really worth anything, we just have to get more points than the team that finishes third.
I like this thread keep it alive Swordsy, oh and fix that bubble as you can see it didn't quite burst
1997/1998 Sumderland were third on 90 points; Forest were top on 94 and Middlesboro were second on 91 points. Sunderland failed to gain promotion in the play-offs, Charlton going up instead.
QPR sit seventh in the Championship form table, having acquired 14 points from their last eight games, which they need to improve upon if they are serious about the automatic positions. Over this period they have achieved an average of 1.75 points per game, which play-off rather than automatic promotion form. Queens Park Rangers (Previous 8 Games) P8 W4 D2 L2 GF9 GA6 GD3 Points 14 WwWdlLwD QPR will be hoping to achieve automatic promotion this season, but they need to get their act together. Their form could only be regarded as ‘decent’ at the moment, although they still sit second in the table with 52 points from 26 games, five points shy of first placed Leicester. They have a goal difference of +15 – which is nothing spectacular for the position they are in, lower than both Leicester and Burnley. Over the course of the season their home form has been outstanding. From 13 games they have won 10, drawn 2 and lost 1. Over this period their average points per game is 2.46 – joint first position. They have amassed 32 points from 13 games. Their away form is good as well, sitting fourth in this table with an average of 1.53 points per game, having gained 20 points from 13 games. In 13 they have won 5, drawn 5 and lost 3. QPR have gained 8 points from losing positions and lost 5 from winning positions, which is pretty good. The team has been helped along the way by their leading scorer Charlie Austin, who has scored 14 goals so far this season in all competitions, 3 of which have been from the penalty spot. In terms of attendances they sit 8th in the table. Their average home attendance is 16983. QPR look like they could go the distance – but they do need to improve slightly on their recent form to ensure they achieve automatic promotion. http://www.footballrants.com/stats-...statistical-analysis-of-the-1314-season/4222?
Cheers for bringing this thread up Sword's. It serves as a stark reminder for those that keep berating the Ranger's. Considering recent events, we're doing alright mate.
Cheers Nines. I've always wondered about these "form" tables though. Isn't the very assessment of form predicated on how many games you take into account? I've seen various newspapers use 3, 4 and 5 games although usually I thought the accepted number was 6. This guy goes even further back and uses 8 . I don't know why he's settled on that particular number. If we were to use 3 for example, we'd be joint top! I think its time an agreed number of games to denote "current form" is settled upon because it'll give articles like this more credence. Personally I think 6 is a nice round number. It takes a good number of recent games into account but also doesn't stretch so far back so as to render it pretty meaningless. Would you agree Nines?
Yes I wholeheartedly agree mate. Those that want to see us as antagonist will do their damnedest to use stats against us, and those that see us as protagonist will use facts. I don't care how we end up to be honest. I'd rather have the ride as a yo-yo team. The excitement of promotion one season and the anticipation of relegation the next is far more exciting and gossip worthy than say... being a West Brom, Fulham or a Stoke, Villa etc. I'd rather keep it real than become a Chelsea or Man City. Those two clubs epitomise everything that is wrong with football and I'm so glad that I support neither. ( It still grips my **** that we didn't beat City that day. 178m v 17.8m )
