I see that the BBC have finally uncovered the worst kept secret in football – that Charles Green is seeking investors for Rangers.
Fans are predictably divided over the prospect of a return for Big Chuck, though it has to be said that a lot of the opposition to his returning stems from people having bought a lot of the spin and negative propaganda that has been put out concerning him.
Many fans see his return to Rangers as a positive thing, particularly if it is with fresh investment behind him. Whatever you say about him, Charles Green is a rainmaker who can bring revenue and funding to Rangers. No wonder those who wish to hinder Rangers in financial and footballing terms hate him so much.
Some are already salivating at the prospect of a future encounter between Big Chuck and Super Ally. The manager’s contempt for Green is well-known. For me, that is a great pity because if both men had been able to park their egos and work together, Rangers would have been much further down the line in being a formidable force.
Although other factors behind the scenes are driving the boardroom wars, it is no secret that much of the turmoil at Ibrox has come from the personality clash between the big brash Yorkshireman and the lad from the West of Scotland. The great pity is we are all caught in the maelstrom of this.
The reality is both men dropped the ball where Rangers are concerned because of their personal feud. People may dispute that Rangers need Charles Green but it is hard to disagree with the idea that they need someone like Charles Green at this moment in time.
And how tragic that the man lauded for not walking away two years ago would send thousands into delirium if he did just that right now. When you think of the potential good for the club if both men had learned to work together or had become firm friends, it is very sad. Because one thing is for sure – their inability/unwillingness to do either has very much cost us all dear in recent times.

I read an extract from Shoot magazine written in 1983 on t'interweb this morning.
It was basically a warning to clubs looking to have rich oligarchs taking over their clubs.
It essentially was saying that fans can be emotionally bought by wealthy owners promising big things (Murray, Green, King, Whyte) and promising to throw the bucks around when the most likely outcome is the owner making money and leaving the clubs in trouble.
It was posted on twitter as a sort of "Well, how true was this?" to Leeds and Rangers fans but only Leeds fans responded.
Shoot in 1983 clearly hated Rangers so much they were trying to bully them and prevent them getting another money man in the door who would "restore" to "their rightful place"

charles i didn't realise you wrote such bloody awful poetry
Charles Green you only have to listen to the sneering from the BBC “journalists” whenever his name is mentioned to know how much he got to them. I would welcome a bit more of the Englishman that they cant pigeon hole as one of us, shining the light on all that is wrong with the Scottish media and football hierarchy.
He was our shield and defender when the haters were slinging their arrows. He stood up for us when we were being kicked about like an empty boiler suit. He is a business man, great. Oh wait…we could have Dave (deep pockets, short arms, probably no money) King. Yeah right. I would not mind Charlie coming back and igniting some fire back into the Rangers belly. We need to hear voices from within Ibrox. We need to believe we are being led. We need vision. We need the Rangers ethos of courage and self belief. Where has our defiance gone? Where is our pride? We are right, we are the people, what we need is someone who can stand up, and stand with us. Unite the support, and we can march onwards to our rightful place once more at the top of Scottish football.

Big Chuck back at Rangers? yes please. As far as I am concerned, Liewell/Regan et al would have had their own way and our titles would have been surrendered…ironic that those against him have held to the mantra of “No Surrender all these years just to vilify someone who actually walked the talk, We need someone like him when we are in the melting pot with all our enemies in the “premiership”.
Rangers need a “Charles Green”, we need someone who will stick up for the club and take on ALL those inside and out who have by their actions and inaction are damaging Rangers. It might not suit Ally (and some others) but for sure Rangers would take a massive step forward if either Green or someone with his commitment and ability to take on those who even today spout their bile against our club was running the business. If he was in charge then progress on and off the pitch would follow. We need someone who isn’t afraid to step on toes and at the same time rally the loyal supporters.
