Why do they bother giving this toe-rag any credence at all? They'd be as well asking Frank MacAvennie.

So, not only did the Deady Bears steal money earmarked for Britain's armed forces, so that they could pay Paul Gascoigne ' s bar bill at the Duck bay marina, they have now taken to throwing them off dodgy roofs over at Ibroke.

Don't quote me, but I fink it has something to do with poppies  still think they should have asked the Royal engineers to have a quick swatch at the roofs while up there <ok>

IBROX blogger Jonathan McFarlane reckons the best outcome from the saga is a mutual parting of the ways in January.

IBROX blogger Jonathan McFarlane reckons the best outcome from the saga is a mutual parting of the ways in January.
ON social media this week it’s been an issue that yet again drives a wedge between the blue and green halves of Glasgow.
Will Joey Barton leave Ibrox in January to resume his career in England or will he decide to take Rangers for every penny and sit out his contract with the kids?

Many of the Celtic persuasion have been punting the idea that Joey is so humiliated, upset and mystified by his treatment that he will decide to hang around like a bad penny if Rangers don’t pay him up. This theory works best when you go full internet bampot and assume that Barton carries in his heart the same level of poisonous hatred towards Rangers as the Twitter mob that push this so strongly obviously do, but it doesn’t stand up to scrutiny when you assess the situation fully.

Barton they say is not a man who will be bullied. Having read his recent book, this analysis seems accurate but it also misses a crucial facet of his complex character: impatience. For Joey to train with the youths and pick up a pay check in the manner of Bobo Balde (
Wee name-check for Celtic as per) he will need a zen like calm and serenity in the face of adversity that he has never shown in his career. Can you really imagine Joey showing up day after day with the kids in a years’ time without there being some sort of volcanic eruption?

It would also require him to have the sheer stubbornness to write off the little time he has left in a short career for what he will see as a poxy 20 grand a week. Now that’s big money in Rangers and the Scottish Premiership, but for Barton, who spent four years on £80k per week at QPR, it's peanuts. This is especially relevant because he has already stated he could have earned a far better contract by taking up different options in the summer but chose Rangers for its unique sporting challenge.

That challenge has evaporated so why would he hang around? Revenge? It won’t be money because far from Barton being left out of pocket by leaving, he will in actuality get a better contract in January where desperate Premier League or Championship managers will see him as a bargain free and will be queueing up based on last season’s performances.

Whenever Joey gets the chance to talk about his experiences in football he always waxes lyrical about his love for the game. It shines through in his book and he emphasised the point in his press conference upon signing for the club. At 34 his career is not on the ascendancy, he doesn’t have much time left. Every year that goes by he is closer to the end and his motivation to play football will surely conquer all. That is Rangers winning card in this game of high stakes contractual poker.

Barton can sit tight and Rangers will suffer, but he will be the bigger loser having sacrificed two years of his career, in its twilight, to a stubborn refusal to be pushed out. A sensible agreement, where a moderate pay off to ensure non-disclosure is agreed, with Joey leaving for more money in pastures new seems something everyone, regardless of your team, should be pushing their chips toward.

Aye, Rangers have spunked out a fortune for a waste of a shirt but they are the winners in this game of high stakes poker.
