PROMINENT Rangers fans leading the revolt against the current regime claim to have been targeted by legal threats from within the Ibrox boardroom.

A Record Sport investigation has uncovered bad-tempered exchanges between the club’s hierarchy and their most high-profile critics.

And yesterday, following our enquiries, a central figure in the scandal – PR guru Jack Irvine – had his big-money contract terminated by “mutual consent”.

Chris Graham, from the Union of Fans umbrella group was quick to celebrate.

He said: “This is good news as he’d become toxic to the club’s support.”

Yesterday, the club issued a statement saying: “Rangers Football Club and Media House International Ltd announce that by mutual consent their current business relationship will end on March 11th 2014.”

The latest top-level drama unfolded after the leader of the Sons of Struth protest group, Craig Houston, claimed on the internet to have been threatened with financial ruin unless he pipes down. <laugh>
