Bale has very little more technical ability than Walcott, if any. You are entitled to your opinion, but Walcott is nailed on starter in our team right now. I don't know what system you think Walcott would be agood striker in, but as I have never heard of him playing a single game in that positition, I can't imagine how you even got that opinion.

As for Walcott not getting into a top Champions League team. He already is in one, Bale isn't.

Firstly, you are clearly wrong, Bale is technically better than Walcott, just ask a cross-board question comparing the two and everyone will agree with me. Walcott is a typical English type kick and rush player who uses little ball control to go past players. He either waits for the midfield to provide a ball to "run onto", or he kicks the ball forward and tries to run past his marker using his pace. He has very little trickery and far too regularly miscontrols or trips over the ball trying to do this. As for him being a "regular player", is there anyone else on the bench to come on for him? Arshavin has flopped this season and left, OXO has debuted this season and is still too fresh and Gervinho is still hungover from the ACON. It's not that Walcott is brilliant and can't be dropped, its just we don't have anyone else of note coming on. Next season this will change with Podolsky, Miyaichi and possibily Joel Campbell coming in. Add Gervinho and OXO, Walcott will be dropped to the bench guaranteed.

I like Walcott and he can provide a plan b if we need. But to say he is on the same level as Bale at the moment is wrong. Bale is much stronger than him, has more trickery, can keep the ball and pass it around, better crossing. Walcott has better finishing/shooting, but not by a significant margin. Put both on the transfer market and see who gets snapped up quicker and by what calibre club....

Bale is quality, but Theo is definitely under-rated by a lot of Arsenal fans. There's a reason RvP loves playing with him so much - he's sung his praises so much this season, even to the point of handing over his Man of the Match Champagne to him to publically endorse how important he thinks he is.

If Theo goes I can't see RvP staying, but if they both sign, next season could be a great one.

I've never underrated Walcott and i understand some people go way over the top with some criticism. Yes he is good and at times dangerous, but sometimes he can be totally anonymous. He is far too inconsistent for my liking. As for RVP singing his praises, he is the club captain and he is doing his job to motivate Walcott. Walcott has had a tough time of recent so RVP was giving him a boost.

If it had happened once or twice I'd say sure. But RvP has been saying things about Theo for a long, long time now, far before he was Captain. He genuinely seems to really rate him, and enjoy playing with him.

Fair enough. Next year will be interesting indeed. Will we ever see Walcott in a central role? My only concern is he seems to be too weak on the ball for a central role but this is his natural position....

I'd like to think so because he's adept at covering numerous role but I've been let down many times before. I think some dead wood will be going at the end of the season which will free up a fair amount of money. Too many times this season I've looked at our bench and winced at how weak it is. I can only see him strengthening it and, who knows, maybe even forcing out a current first team regular. Another obvious plus would be the partnership he has with Vermaelen already.

If reports are to be believed he has had a medical, a deal of £10.9mil has been made with his club and personal terms agreed and will go through in the summer.

There has been a recent report though of him saying he has spoken to a friend at Lazio (he obv is asking about lol as the same happened with Mert) and that he isn't sure where he will go.

I think this is probably just a push for slightly mroe cash from Arsenal though and i recon he will be an Arsenal player come the summer.

How likely is it for RVP to be an Arsenal player next year? Not a wum, but why would he stay when City could just double his wages, and rumours of top European teams sniffing around too. I love watching him play in the premiership, even if it is for another team but why would he stay? In the same way, I worry about some Liverpool players staying whilst we're rebuilding when some of them could just as easily jump ship after more imediate success (Hi Torres), whether it works out or not.

I would guess RVP is about 80% likely to be with Arsenal next year.

I has come up through the ranks at Arsenal and his situation is more like Fabregas than Nasri, except that RVP is an Arsenal fan and does not have another team's DNA. Whilst it is true he can earn a lot more playing for Man City, doing so would come at a risk and if he stays at Arsenal, he will probably get a 4 year contract, maybe worth about 20M, and he can be happy for 4 years.

If he goes to Manchester City, or another country he might earn double that but might also be miserable.

While we as supporters seem to often portray footballers as money-grabbing whores, that is far from true about most of them and I doubt RVP will pass up the chance to become a legend at Arsenal (the team he supports), rather than being just another hired gun somewhere else.

  15. Wilshere is already top class - at least before his injury. Having been out for so long, the memory may have dimmed, but he is exceptional. Not just good, or even great, but one a small bunch of truly world class footballers. He has everything. Most talented footballer this country has produced since Gascoigne <ok>

Yeah absolutely, he has already put in big performances against United, Chelsea and Barcelona.
Wilshere is FAR better than alot of Arsenal fans seems to realise.

It seems Vertonghen really has his heart set on a move to Arsenal, which makes me think he's be an exellent signing. He's top class, versatile and most importantly Arsenal are his preffered destination. (making it less likley he will wont to seek out a move elswhere) he's good friends with Vermaelen and is considered better than Kompany by the Belgium national team coach.

If he comes, I think he will come mainly as a left back or a midfielder. I just can't see how we have room for another CB.

If he comes he will start. Because he's better than Koscielney or Mertesacker. (both are good players though)
also with our injury issues his versatility would be very useful.

I don't know. Kos is very good at marking the enemy CF. I would like to know how many goals have been scored from open play by the opposing CF when he has been playing. Not many I would guess.

I'm not saying Vertonghen isn't better than Kos or Metersacker, but I can't see how you can be certain he is better.

Are you serious? I like Ko's as a player, he's mobile, good distribution, very good technically.. but he struggles against larger more powerful centreforwards.
(Just off the top of my head: Ibrahimovic, Crouch, Zamorra, Carroll, Drogba, Wellbeck, Steve Morison, Yakubu, have scored against our defence in the last 12 months.)

We conceed way too many goals(already 39 in the league this season) and although I like both Koscielney and Mertesacker i dont think either are truely 'World Class'.
There are plenty of centrebacks out there that would make us a better team.
