Shwan, I'm not sure what you are basing your opinion on, but there is very little other than opinion to seperate Podolski/Aguero and Cazorla/Silva. While there may be some slight difference in the stats, generally speaking, it is unlikely that Aguero would have done much better than Podolski playing in Koln last year, or that Silva would have done much better than Cazorla in Malaga. Time will tell how well Cazorla and Podolski fit in to Arsenal and whether Aguero and Silva will play as well this year as they did last year, but it is a very extreme view to say that they are "way better". I doubt that anyone could determine which players are really better and it may be that even after the year is over, it will still be unclear.
I can only surmise from you comments that you never actually watched these players play. The point about the 'exaggerated' figure is that Utd and City will pay more for an equivalent player than Arsenal will, because: 1. Wenger is the master at spotting a bargain 2. We are tight arses 3. Fergie and Mancini have been ripped off in the past, so selling clubs know they can do it
Your talking rubbish. Wengers acquisitions have been absolutely first class (sure there is a few dud's here and there but thats just the way it goes) The reason we have fallen short in recent years has NOTHING to do with the players we have brought in. Its the selling of players by the board that has costs us... Consider we have NEVER spent over £15 Million on a player and most our signings have been under £10 Million. Then consider.... ..Hypethetical situation: If we had not consistantly sold our best players (purely for the money) I believe we would have a title winning squad (that was still assembled at a fraction of the cost of United/Chelsea or City's.) --------------------Sczezney---------------------- Sagna-----Kos/Mert-------Vermaelen------Clichy ------------Wilshere-----------Song--------------- ---------------------Fabregas---------------------- Nasri----------------VanPersie-------------Cazorla Bench: Diarra, Walcott, Adebayor, Podolski, Arteta, Giroud, Toure. This is where Wenger is still SUPERIOR to his rivals. This summer it looks like the board have finally given Wenger the backing he needs again and we could well see this team lining up for us next season.. A team that will be strong enough to challenge IMO... --------------------Sczezney---------------------- Sagna-----Kos/Mert-------Vermaelen------Santos ------------Wilshere-----------Sahin--------------- ---------------------Carzorla---------------------- Walcott------------VanPersie-------------Podolski Bench: Giroud, Arteta, Chamberlain, Kos/Mert, Diaby, Song, Mannone.
An early contender for most stupid post of the month award, it's going to take a HIAG special to beat this.
No again you are mistaken. My point was more about the quality of the whole squad. (bench and all) In recent years a lack of QUALITY cover has been a big issue for us. So think about it this way... How many quality International players do you think you need to add to a 3rd placed team in order to turn them into legitimate contenders?? How about 5? 1. Carzorla 2. Podolski 3. Giroud 4. Sahin/M'Vila - Possibly. It does seems we will be adding another midfielder. 5. Wilshere
No Kos / Mert No Cazorla Wilshere was out on loan half the season (too young) Chesney was also reserve due to age (3rd choice keeper). VP was out for half the season injured. Hardly 10 players, but had we indeed had 10 players in that line-up playing the whole season, then we may well have done better. They may well have helped us gain 11 points required.
It depends on your definition of 'World Class' RVP Sagna Carzorla Vermaelen possibly Wilshere Podolski Arteta Sahin If we keep RVP and add Sahin we will have a better squad than United or Chelsea. (hard to match City for sheer depth) - and this is coming from someone who's been perhaps a little too negative and sceptical about the squad in recent years.
Depends what you mean by these days. If you're talking about the last 15-20 years then I have only this to say: Henry.
