i've just come across "the socially distant sports bar" which is a couple of welsh comedians (Elis James and Mike Bubbins) talking about sport from the 70/80/90's. i've only listened to the first couple but it seems quiet good....and gives me an excuse to delve into old youtube clips that they talk about.

I've started listening to a fantastic podcast called 'Conflicted'. I copy their description below:

Listened to the first two episodes - quite like the Aimen fella, some very interesting stories but the American guys' voice is a big turn off so far...
Persevered with this, and as you say, the pay off is well worth it. It's opened my eyes to a lot of things in the Middle East that I had no idea about - especially the war in Yemen and the influence the Iranians have in that conflict and how this could effect the entire global economy - fascinating.
Season two was a bit of a heavier listen, but interesting to hear how the policies of Trump have handed the Chinese and Russians the leg up they needed.

You've soared past me as I've only finished season one. Glad you enjoyed it. Wanted to give it a break before season two. I also thought the episode on Yemen was superb. A very different story than the one which you hear about in the media (social and traditional) here...
Working in Edinburgh at the moment, over an hour each way so plenty of time to listen!

Just listened to both parts, what an insight.... from one perspective. Worth a listen. QPR comes into it after 20 minutes and takes up a fair amount of time...
Just finished the marathon third season - 20 episodes, every one so brilliantly researched. This season covered Clash of Civilisations, the rise of Islamic fundementalism in the middle east and the depths that both US and Soviet foreign policy tried to lever themselves into the best position, and ultimately both failing leading to international Jihadism. British, French and Italian colonialism also left a lot of wreckage in it's wake through North Africa and the Middle East

One of the best things you and Steels got me into Raving and has helped shape my thinking in many ways and across most conflicts in the world, from years ago to present day.
I’ve got a few mates I know to listen also and they too have found it brilliant and worth listening to. Shame to see Aimen was treated in such a way…..some people should hang their heads in shame.
On another note, I’ve become hooked to the James English podcast Anything Goes, which has loads of interviews with ex criminals, gang members, footballers, ex hooligans, terrorists , drug smugglers, soldiers, porn stars and many others with interesting stories to tell.

Soft White Underbelly on You Tube is very good. He interviews drug addicts, corrupt police, hookers, gang members, victims etc. All have a sad story and many appear decent people who have lost their way or through upbringing never had a fair chance at a normal life. Check out his interviews with the Whittakers - an in-bred family - shocking and sad.
Is that the family that have most members both mentally and physically impaired through inbreeding ? If so I found that both shocking and very sad
Yes, the Appalachian family. One of them seems able only to communicate by barking like a dog. Very sad indeed. Mark, the interviewer takes them on a trip to Walmart in one episode, and they seem amazed by the experience.
I’ll try and give that a watch….sounds very interesting
