Great article on Saints and Pochettino from OptaPro: http://www.optasportspro.com/en/about/optapro-blog/posts/2013/pochettino’s-pressure.aspx

Couple of graphics to share also...

Red is when a team had above their team average for possession in a game with Saints. The darker the red, the higher above their average it was.

Green is when a team had below their team average for possession in a game with Saints. The darker the green, the higher above their average it was.

The horizontal blue line demonstrates the overall Premier League average for possession.

We're also in a league of our own when it comes to depriving the opposition of the ball..

And a comparison with other European sides...

The thing I don't get is how we can restrict the opposition to, on average, by far their lowest possession time, but how ours is also below average. Can anyone explain that to me? Only explanation I can offer is that the ball is out of play for a really long time, but that doesn't seem right.

PTF, it's a percentage of the league average, not the average possession during the game itself.

Great statistics, DTLW. Just been probing for exactly this kind of thing on another thread.
Top find. Thanks for sharing.

I love stuff like this. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I'll drink it all day :-)
