Another good ball from Carroll to Manning but his cross is into the stand behind the goal. They score but ruled out for offside (?) HT 1-1
Strange game. Very strong start. Then, after about 15 or 20 mins, our gameplan seemed to go out the window for the next 15 mins. Slightly picked up towards the end. The defence seems a bit vulnerable. Some confusion between a young Masterson and new arrival Dickie. Kakay playing very advanced, almost like a right midfielder, with Ball and occasionally Amos coming in to cover RB. Sadly, Oteh doesn't seem to be able to create much when in possession, nor does he seem to have the pace to take players on. I hope he can find a way to get into the game (and gameplan) a bit more. I'm pleased with Carroll. Ball has had some poor touches, which is unlike him.. Chair has a lot of weight on his shoulders now. A bit hit and miss in this game but his dead balls are an improvement over Eze's. I think he can step up and play a good role but he won't match Eze's effectiveness. Also, I think Manning has become (quite possibly) our best player. Have there been any more rumours of teams being interest? With that said, I think he was out fault for Plymouth's goal. He didn't track the goalscorer. The whole back line could have been tighter.
Lots of poor passing from both sides. I'd like to see a bit more from us down the wings, from BOS and Manning, and especially from Chair.
Something I'd say about Luke Amos... he's a strange one. He obviously has technical ability. But he seems like one of those players who's head is not in the game. He seems to have his mind elsewhere and doesn't seem to concentrate well. He reminds me of Caulker. If he was able to concentrate, he'd be a good player. In this game, he does one good thing and immediately one bad thing.
I'm pleased to say Bright seems to still be playing positively, despite Eze leaving. He just needs to build a good relationship with someone else on the pitch now. Chair? Amos? Somehow, I think him and Kakay would work well together, but they play on the opposite sides of the pitch!
That's where he tends to play these days. I think Warburton fancies Kakay pushing forward. And he's not wrong to be keen on that.
