Thought Waggy played like someone who knew he'd be dropped as soon as Green recovered from illness Stephens was very quiet - maybe took it to heart that his miss was costly Hayes did well for me (Sorry Ponders) .. great touch and always looking to involve other players. Our crisp passing in the first few games has a lot to do with his inclusion. Hollands was quiet but then again he does well without really being noticed doesn't he. Still don't feel assured with Solly playing but if that is who will be playing week in, week out then so be it. I think Jackson might not be an out-and-out winger but when Green is back and crossing at very available opportunity he will win loads of headers at the back post We're third in the league, 2 points off the top .... no need to panic guys
The only people that came out of last night with any credit would be those (myself included) who bothered to turn up! Words fail me, it was like l was watching a different team. With the exception of Solly and Waggy, the rest were totally and utterly dire. The quicker we get shot of Hamer the better; what kind of buffoon is he? He kicked the ball out of play way too often; he was at fault for the goal (yes, l have seen the replay on tv). If that is supposed to be our first choice GK. then relegation beckons! Wednesday are a bad side, but we were out-muscled by them in midfield; our midfield (did we have one)? were absolutely useless. Morrison & Taylor were, and always will, absolute dross. What was the manager doing; simply standing there and doing nothing; what he hoped to achieve bringing on Jason E. when he should have brought on Pritchard 30 minutes before is beyond my understanding!! Significant improvement and team changes due on Saturday or else the manager has some serious questions to answer.
I thought Solly and Wagstaff were awful. Still didn't see Wagstaff beat a man or put a threatening cross in, and Solly was the worst culprit for long ball. Morro and Taylor, I thought, were impressive. Handled set plays with ease and were no nonsense when in possession. Still think we are being too hard on everything CAFC. But as I said before- this seemingly is the Charlton way.
Joke right? I was sitting with my friend who is an academy goalkeeper at millwall (so we tend to keep an eye on the keepers), Hamers kicking was fantastic under pressure - We only noticed he kicked it out of play once? Could of done better for the goal however, but every goalkeeper in every league will get that message at some point this season.
He acknowledges he should have done better for the goal- but then again JJ's attempted clearance was screaming for trouble. Break down in communication between the two, so it's hard to know who deserves the blame.
Also Rufus 98.... Hamer kicking it out of play all the time? Like Jamiester said, not only did it only happen like once but anyone remember Deano? He would kick it out of play directly at least once a game and he's one of the best keepers I've seen in a Charlton Shirt, the guys only just joined, not played a lot of first team football, let him find his feet. And can we please stop panicking? We've had 1 bad game really, well 2 if you include throwing away the match against Scunny. I like Stephens thinks he's class, but yes he's kind of gone off the ball lately. Hollands I think is great too, he does the jobs that doesn't get the glory, he just does his job quietly and does well, isn't that what Semedo did? Morrision and Taylor are solid, Solly was good, Sooner Green comes back the better, Sorry Waggy but just not on the same page when it comes to winger ability. We needed a left winger, Jacko comes inside wayyy too much. Wiggins not overly impressed, but improvement on last two seasons for our left back positions but then again not hard to improve on garbage. BWP, goal then nothing all game odd cross but really nothing of note. Hayes few fancy flicks but not much else. Anyone else think with only 5 subs we could drop Sulivan from the bench for a bench with more choice?
I know we were at home, but the fact that Wednesday are so much happier than we are with a point says something. We can, and I'm sure will, improve, with their midfield they'l struggle to create chances. Powell was bold for the Reading game, now he needs to be the same for the league. Ted - yes, once or twice a season at most a gk is needed off the bench, and Taylor can at a pinch play in goal if the worst does happen.
