be careful about assigning tags such as 'Popular Trust' to an organisation whose birth was slightly troublesome
Yes, it seems that the current rulers have decided to become more 'openly' democratic and improve its PR but it is still seen by many as the 'anti owners' wing of CL which may/may not be now be an unfair assignment.
I guess all you can do is continue your more inclusive PR attempts and perhaps advertise your constitution more widely (while perhaps updating it a little bit to reflect a more constructive relationship with the Club. I do not think sponsoring players shirts should be a priority but perhaps having a official charity partner could be an option..... have you seen the state of the Bolangi tribute garden recently? it is shocking!
Just heard about the garden and action is being taken... don't know the detail and not my place to go into it ...
Thanks for your feedback - thought about shirts sponsoring but it didn't seem right - a good discussion on the committee a few months back
We are releasing the results of the end of season survey this weekend and at the same time discussing what comes next after ACV. We are on CAFC property on Saturday running a stall to discuss ACV and the Trust with fans... every time we do that we get a few more members and another few hundred email addresses...
Very few fans unsubscribe from our lists and we are adding about 500 per month... so sooner or later we get to a really decent number...perhaps 5,000 by Christmas... and half our lists read our weekly email... it that number goes down then we know the Trust is becoming less connected, less relevant... similarly the number of hits on the website was going up every month (until Barnie went on holiday) and the referrals are coming from everywhere
Always need to work with the club where possible (as we don't need another Voice of the Valley!) and it is both more constructive and probably a faster way to build numbers...In fact we are hoping to run a survey soon to ask people what they think about the trust, it's materials, website, images etc. We already know that fans want a dialogue with the club so this is at the heart of it...but that dialogue can have many strands.
Re. democracy, to me it is about listening to fans (surveys) and getting more and more fans involved in activities to broaden the "church" and keep the trust grounded... again, more ideas and activities will boost the numbers... we already have a trusted formula in terms of website, publications and surveys, twitter and emails but ALWAYS looking to add to the mix... and ALWAYS looking for more content - so if anyone fancies writing an article then contact the Trust... we are actively recruiting people and hope to double the numbers of fans involved just as we are doubling the network...
For this is fundamental to the long term future of the Trust, whatever happens at the club over the next 12 months.

for the Trust guys to be calling out "Sign here if you don't want houses being built on The Valley". Struck me as unnecessarily alarming people.
