I have read it as phil, you are putting spin on it, you are not a labour mp are you ? and he I believe had a 2 or 3 year contract, the club tried to negotiate a new contract in the last year of his contract, there was nothing wrong in that, what else do you want the club to do? The players out of contract now were given good contracts for the place we were in, that has changed Rangel and Dorus want to stay and will sign. I really think that a lot is being said about the actions of the club, but nothing about the players who refuse to sign good contracts, these players seem to live on a different planet at times, and forget who is the employer here, if you went to your boss and told him that what you are offering is not good enough, what would the answer be? Football players earn very good money, but the club must come first, read that in total premier league clubs owe £3bn , most of that debt comes from the obscene amounts of money earned by players, the game is in meltdown!
Think you're right Jager, think a bit more focus needs to be shed on the perceived greed of the players as opposed to the way the board handle the contract negotiations. DPJ as for you say the board's policy is inept i think its too early to say it is definatively? It may be BUT if using the same tactics we SECURE a re-signing of Rangel and De Vries who are essenital to the team, on terms favourable for both player and club but LOSE Pratley who was a bit part player last season and IMO wouldnt be much more this season then surely the policy is working perfectly. If those two players dont sign then i would see that as proof the policy is inept as losing Rangel and De Vries will be significantly more detrimental to our season than losing Pratley. As he is going now the worst we have lost is £1 million at best as i didnt hear many offers bigger than that 6 months ago so we havent lost that much in the grand scheme of things given we got promoted.
dragon is spot on about pratley, he did want to sign on and huw had other ideas for him like trying to sell him to forest, i dont blame pratley one bit for sticking to his principles and join another club after 5 good years. the player was let down badly by Jenkins and thats why he said he would never sign for him again, this is one area that huw has been disastrous because good players that could have got us money are leaving for free, this must be addressed,,,,good luck at Bolton pratts you were great for us and its our loss and Bolton's gain..
Jager there's no spin by me, I can assure you, I'm never influenced by misplaced loyalty, and try to be objective as I can be for the benefit of our club, and I agree with your last post, which is what I stated earlier on in this thread with quote above, my original comment I repeat is extracted from comments made by Huw and Prartley, and I don't want this debate to go down the path of a blame game between Pratley and Huw, what we need to do is learn from these inept transfer dealings, as you well know this is not the first issue on this subject, and I'm sure it won't be the last, remember Bessone developing well into a left back, until we let him run his contract down, and off he went on a free to Leeds, Taylor has hardly been here and other clubs are now picking him up on the cheap! No one will convince me that all is well with our contract policy, and I refer again to Norway jack, who was continually calling for a tightening of our contract policy on the old BBC 606! Throwing money away all the time, hell it must hurt Huw Jenkins!................. please log in to view this image
Phil most players are boy scouts, there is no loyalty in the game , it's all about money, take for example Martinez not accepting the villa post, is it loyalty or the fact that he got offered a better deal at Wigan ? These people are surrounded by agents who's sole aim is to get transfers, no matter if the player is happy where they are, the reason is that they get paid on transfers from the clubs, they disrupt players they have no useful purpose, yet they practically dictate what happens to the players, and their contracts and the negotiating of terms. Really I have no time for agents or the players who are blinded by the scumbags, pratley was offered a very good contract he stated that, either he wants to play for us, or basically sod off as the club is more important than he is. And by the way this is not a dig at him, just a general opinion on anyone at the club who does not wish to play for us!
I pretty much feel the same way as you regarding agents, and they evolved out of the players plight many years ago, when clubs used players as cannon fodder, and due to the poor conditions in those days, has come the rep, or agent. Of course the balance of power has shifted far too much in favour of the player, but who's fault is that? who pays these costs? directly or indirectly the clubs, and it has spiralled out of control, to the extent that the British game is Billions, yes Billions in debt, and this can no longer go on, something has to be done about it, to bring some balance and common sense otherwise there will be casualties. I have no time for players that are passing through either, and Taylor looks like one of those, though Pratley is not so straight forward, but I am disappointed he has stuck to his press release, but there you go water under the bridge now, hope he knows what he is doing, because I can't see him getting an open door back like Leon, anyway I wish him no ill will, he has not been like Andy Robinson, as far as I can see. Taylor though has really started to annoy me, he nearly cost us promotion, and now he wants to leg it, well as far as I'm concerned he can sling his hook, the mercenary has not been here two minutes, what a thank you, after we gave him his big break! Some thanks, I hope he rots on some Prem Bench, if he goes!.......... please log in to view this image
Phil.... so Bessone was our answer at left back did you watch his games for leeds last year.... your having a larf
superswan, i probably should have put some context to calling him a bit part player. He has been an integral player for the previous 4 seasons and at the beginning of this season arguabley but he BECAME a bit part player, now that could have been for a number of reasons (not securing a contract or he didnt want to be there and as we have seen this lately Rodgers seems to be taking a firm line on the "if you dont want to be here go" attitude) However you cant argue that in the last 20 games of this season Pratley's appearance/non appearance stats were: - 7 starts (only 2 full games) - 4 sub appearance - 8 unused sub - 1 not in matchday squad (couldnt find reason, will assume injured) Now appearing in just over half of the majority of the second half of the season and for a player that we all know has a cracking work ethic and terrific engine to only play 2 full games in 20 means that for whatever reason he had become a bit part player. I as many others will be sorry to see him leave and if he had stayed he would have added an extra dimension to our midfield but i doubt it he would have started many games and i think he is replaceable. Good luck to him, he has been a brilliant servant to the club and deserves the best and if he does go to another premiership club and is brilliant, il be eating my words, i just dont see it happening though and i could see him going to Forest if they offer the most...hence me starting this thread about being pissed off with the "new challenge" he wants
Yes I think you've missed a very important point. As jackdan just pointed out, Pratley hasn't had much game time recently. So maybe the challenge he is looking for is to play regular first team football in the Premier League and maybe he can get that with Bolton. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes and maybe it was obvious that he wouldn't get regular first team football with Swansea. Many players are passionate about the game and want to play every week. They aren't content to just sit on the bench. Give the guy a break. He's done a lot for the Swans and is now moving on. Nothing wrong with that.
and they are even more passionate about money........nobody is giving him a bad time nor do we doubt what he has done! He just needs to be honest and he would gain a lot more respect from me and all the other posters! We aint no body's fools
exactly swimaway. I said inthe original post and subsequent ones...wish him the best he has done a great job but just be honest when you leave!!!
Try reading what people are actually saying rather than quick reading and spouting off ..... I said ".... A LOT MORE RESPECT...". You need to put that Ya Ba down, it's effecting your judgement.
