Thank you! No luck with MalteesMick or cyprussydafc. Mick doesn't take PMs and cyprus... has taken too many PMs and can't accept any more! Any ideas on who else has the power?
I didn't say i approve of bskyb, i just said that people have a right to choose. Or do you not live in a democracy?
We could try multi-boarding this on to General Chat if you want more attention, but their is some odd people there.
Ok. I'm not sure how this works. I'm a total wuss, I've never ventured onto General Chat! Then again, I can always try PMing again tomorrow... I mean, I'd like to get maximum exposure for this if possible but it's not going to happen overnight, realistically.
You should still have your coat on, many of us have not forgiven you for that horrific pun you made several weeks ago
Cowboy, of course you have the right to choose. I think the movers in this deal would love to divide the fans (and rule, Machiavelli style) and I wouldn't want that myself or we're ****ed. Fighting for democracy is ever more important when Murdoch's on the march. He has held our democracy to ransom for far too long already. Every little helps, as they say down Tesco.
I'm not sure you are seeing the bigger picture here Cowboy⦠The point is that you are not going to have the opportunity to choose when Murdoch takes it over entirely are you? You are not going to have an opportunity to choose to watch half of next year's races without paying extra for it are you? Murdoch will soon monopolise F1 and then you will have absolutely no choice at all, other than to pay or give up on F1. And that is a direct exploitation, exactly in keeping with what we've come to expect from Murdoch over the last 40 odd years! The BBC is a government agency and the government have a responsibility to listen to the public and make decisions which are in our interest, AND NOT TO MAKE DECISIONS WHICH EXPLOIT US! I presume you understand the meaning of democracy? - A government which sells out to a rogue dealer is virtually committing treason! The BBC and the government have absolutely no mandate to cast aside the wishes of the people who think they put them there.
I feel like i'm fighting a losing battle here. Am i the only person who loves F1 enough to get sky, and to hell with the consequences. I don't care about political implications, it's late i'm tired, i'm just fighting for the sport i love most.
Ah thanks Max. I'm too tired tonight (as I hope is obvious from my error) but you've just made the world alright again. Cheers and Goodnight. P.S. to BrightLampShade: I have vague memories of some awful pun but I hope everyone will have noticed I have refrained from further attempts. Right, that really is it. Over and out!
I'm sure most of us will end up finding a way to watch F1 one way or another, but on principle some of us can not deal with sky. Its the old Rock and Hard Place problem.
Cowboy, please don't think of it as a battle, between us at least. I think it is in the commercial interests of the power brokers in this deal to divide the fans and rule. It is in our interests to stick together whether we want to watch on Sky or not. Cosi makes a good point though: you have a choice now but you may not have one later on.
