Now we are officially a LEAGUE 2 team next year will hessenthaler go? Imo this is not a hessenthaler choice and not his fault, he wasn't good enough for the job when we appointed him and seems to have not improved during his time here. He will not walk and it annoys me when people call for him to resign as he won't of been on mega money during his career and none of you would walk away from your job if you weren't good enough would you? No, you would be sacked however and it is now time for Mr. Scally to bring down the axe. This squad is very good and could possibly hold their own in league 1. Hess has never been the right man and will sadly never be. I will clap him and the team off after the match on saturday but hopefully it will be the last time we will see him as Gillingham manager.

Oh the boredom of covering the same ground when this subject was done to death over the last couple of weeks (with an 87/13 vote in support of Hessy). The fact is that whatever side of the argument contributors might be on, there is a complete absence of anything new being said. No further contributions needed for about 365 days unless there is something really new to say and we all know which side of the argument people are on.
Bristol 407- so we've got to listen to your pro- Hessy views/excuses until the end of next season? To be honest that would be very boring as well. I think your find these sites are far more interesting if you have fans sharing their different views on the way forward for their club. Otherwise what's the point..
Think Hess will manage us next season.He has a good eye for talent and has had some good buys and loans. He does seem to have his favourites though and persists with them whatever their form.Oli,Frampton and Montrose should not be getting a sniff.When you are desperate for a goal do you bring on Oli??(if hess renews his contract i will give up) .Although i dont rate him k4 is more likely to score.Wouldnt be playing Framps and def not Montrose.Oh well another year in div 2.Best to be top of div 2 than bottom of div 1.
No Lenny I did not express any view here on Hessy because I have said it before and there is nothing new to say. That is my point.
And it is painfully obvious that neither you Lukey, or Lenny have anything new to add. The vote on here was clear enough and supported Hess. He is part of the team and I suggest that you start putting your efforts behind the team for the new season.

I think the problem here is that the vote for not606 has already been cast on another thread:

So I suppose when the thread states 'when people call for him to resign' albeit that may be the case elsewhere it is not on this site.
That does not mean an opposite opinion cannot be posted, which is why I left this thread and did not merge it. However, considering the voting poll, then the thread is likely to cause an argumentative reaction, with the people for 'IN' feeling they are having to cover the same ground.
Maybe Lenny (not having a go) if the one liners were avoided and a more constructive reasoning was given for why Hessy should go, it might at least appear to the majority that some thought was put behind the opinion. I will be honest and say I find Lenny's posts amusing. Serious no but they do give me a wry smile and you can either take the thread or ignore it.

I must have mistakenly started commented on the kent online comments section rather than not 606! I have two issues with the negativity that was received:
1) what else is there to talk about? How much I'm looking forward to going to fleetwood and accrington next season instead of one of the sheffield clubs? How I think think hess has done ever so well despite taking us backwards over the last two years? How next will be so much better because frampton will be made captian again next year despite looking diabolical all season? Oh yes lots of positivity for next year how wrong was I to be negative!
2) People keep referring to that vote as the definitive end to the subject, and saying nothing has changed. Something has changed, promotion is now gone and we are league 2 again, when that vote was cast we had a chance, now we have nothing. I also foolishly thought I was free to express my views freely without being shot down in an instant.

Well said Lukey I couldn't agree more. I'm afraid a number on this site can't see past their Hessy rose tinted glasses, the man can do no wrong. I'm off to the chapel of Hessy now to repent my sins, how dare I question our mighty leader. How dare I expect anything other than mid table mediocrity.
John Still, Micky Adams, Sturrock (no chance of him coming to the Gills). Someone with technical ability and could use our resources better than Hessy. Before you all remind me that Still and Adams teams finished lower in the league, please remember they had absolutely no resources/money.

AllHell - I'm sure there will be a few with flasks at the ready for you next season
Although I noticed I can get the price of a Charlton season ticket (Championship) AND coach travel for around the same price of my season ticket (L2) on its own 
Its a tough one to call because i cannot think who would want to come in and could do a better job, however i do believe Hessy is tactically inept and i do believe he has had a team at his disposal this season more than capable of gaining promotion! so to that end i believe the team is good enough so the buck must stop with the manager! Are we going to keep saying there is always next season? Many people say we just an average league 2 team but surely we must have ambition to be a capable league 1 team? Just being in league 1 would boost our finances no-end due to more southern n some fairly big teams! UTG
Wooooooo the Super Stevenage, the Wonderous Wycombe.....no dammit they went down, Barnstorming Bury, and Opulent Orient....I agree, League one is a wash with marvellous teams. Mediocrity is confined purely to League two. 
I wonder how many fans who voted for Hess to stay think he is the right man for the job or if they can't see a better alternative? If Hess walked away I wouldn't shed too many tears but I think we can't afford to pay him off so prefer him to stay on financial grounds, also we owe him the full term of his contract (if he wants it)... am I in the minority with these thoughts?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Micky Adams is the man for the job. He has already proven he will happily leave vale if the right job comes up and I think he could get us back towards the top of league 1 again (where I think we belong). Plus if not him a lot of people seem to forget we are a very attractive club to come to. A chairman who despot his faults, has proven he will give his manager time and money to build a squad. We have one of the strongest fan bases in the league and could easily get 6,000 plus if we were towards the top of the table. Finally we have a stadium and set up that will allow us to go up and stay up for a long while that many clubs don't. Trust me a lot of mangers will be monitoring the situation very keenly.
If Hess went (but he won't) there would be a whole list of managers who are out of work that would apply. I expect you could make a case for and against every one of them, but at the end of the day it will be the chairmans choice and I hope he won't go for what appears to be the cheap option as he has done in the past (Hess, Stimson Jepson). We need an established manager who has done things in the lower divisions i.e. Lee Clark, Sean O'Driscoll maybe even Peter Reid. I'm sure there are a lot more, but I think it's an experienced man we need. Look at Torquay this season (Martin Ling) Bristol Rovers who have improved under Mark McGee Southend with Paul Sturrock and even Norrthampton in the short time that Boothroyd has been there. These clubs aren't awash with money, but they've managed to improve, probably above expectations. So it can be done with the right man in charge. I think,though,that Scally will stick with Hess for the first few months of the new season and then see how things are going.
brb invited some "constructive reasoning" from the hessy out gang but this does seem to present them with a problem. i think they need a bit of help even if it needs me to switch sides on this argument. First we need to address the consequence of sacking the said Hessy. Everyone will accept that Southall would have to go with Hessy and it must be definite that Patterson and Hare would need to go as well, simply to give the new guy a clean sweep. So that means paying up the contracts, about 15 months for Hessy and Southall and12 months for the other two and this money needs to be found up front. Well there is only one place to find that money...next years players budget. I reckon it could be funded by shedding (and NOT replacing) Weston, Fuller, Oli, Spiller and King. No loss really, they hardly ever play anyway, but it would have been nice to have had replacements.
Secondly, most people know that the Gills manager's post is not the best remunerated and in recent years stan Ternent and Mickey Adams have laughed at the terms when they have been sounded out about the job, and of course Hessy made do without an assistant so the saving could go towards the players budget. Well this has to change, we might not be able to pay for an Adams or Ternent but we need to take more from the playing budget to pay extra for the manager and the whole cost of an assistant. And we can afford it by selling Jack Payne and Gazza, if we get a good transfer fee that should just about meet the extra cost.
Now thirdly we need to identify who we are looking for. It is going to be a small squad but if we are lucky Hessy might go back to Dover and he could loan us one or two youngsters. There is only one serious candidate for me (and I am being serious) and that is Brian Horton who has just thrown in the towel at Macclesfield. He has managed and played at all levels has one of the best win ratios in the game and was willing to take on a hopeless case at Macclesfield. The experience of trying to keep Macclesfield in League 2 is probably going to be useful next season with Gills squad.
