I don't actually hate Tevez, as he was forced out by Fergie who wouldn't pay the money for him. He wouldn't have joined City had we payed the money for him. I think City with there welcome to Manchester poster really stirred up our dislike for him, though it wasn't Tevez who made that poster or put it up. Tevez did what was best for his career when we pushed him out. We won 2 titles and a CL with Tevez in his 2 seasons with us, and he played a big part, and scored a lot of important goals in those triumphs. I think that 08 side was the strongest side we've ever had, better than the 99 side, with Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez in attack. What an attack that was
We offered him a great deal and the monet was offered to his owner. They decided they wanted more than was agreed so we rightly told them to f**k off. He also scored FIVE league goals once for us. Wow.
Schmiechel > Van Der Sar Neville > Brown Stam < Vidic Johnsen < Ferdinand Irwin < Evra Beckham < Ronaldo Keane > Carrick Scholes was in both Giggs was in both to Yorke < Rooney Cole < Tevez So IMO I make that 3 wins for the 99 side and 6 for the 08 side, with 2 draws. That's just my opinion though, I'm sure some may argue that Irwin was better than Evra, and or Stam was better than Vidic. I'm not really sure you can argue with any of the others though
He scored 14 league goals in his first year with us, and was only limited to 5 the following year because he was on the bench for most of it, after we signed Berbatov. It was SAFs fault for upsetting Tevez by signing Berbatov and putting Tevez on the bench for most of the year. No wonder he didn't want to stay
It also says a lot that the 08 era of players got to 3 CL finals in 4 years, yet the 99 era only got to the one
Agree with the first two but Tevez was better than Cole IMO. However, I think it depends what you're wanting too. Cole was a out-and-out striker who would get you goals so long as you gave him plenty of service, you didn't get much more from him. Tevez would give you goals if in the right setup but was able to do a lot more and his work ethic is second to none too.
I prefered Tevez to Cole. Whatever the issue around him leaving there is absolutely no doubt that when he came on to the pitch for us, particularly in Europe he absolutely stood out head and shoulders in terms of his ability on the ball. He did however show a complete lack of class with the way he started attacking United and Fergie in particular, after he left. The poster (although reflecting more the small club mentality of City) was particularly crass on his part.
Tevez was part of the most exciting front trio I've seen at Man Utd; Tevez, C.Ronaldo and Tevez creating some quality football in that 2007-08 season
Tbh mate the season before with Rooney, Ronaldo and Saha was better imo. Saha the proper pacey number 9 with Ronaldo and Rooney was brilliant to watch up to Xmas. The interplay between them three was unreal. But then Saha got injured. If Saha had stayed fit that season, or not been so injury prone in following seasons, that would have been a delight to watch.
I think it depends on what you like to see. I love free flowing interchanging football and they three I said were brilliant at it.
