It's not his transfer policy though is it? It's elis shorts. That's why I've been saying to you you can't compare it with MoN's transfer dealings. This transfer policy was coming in no matter who was manager. MoN had meetings with short and di fanti earlier in the year. PDC is being ****ed off over his transfer dealings already and being used as an example to put MoN's transfer dealings down when 1. They're clearly not PDC's signings and 2. We've not even confirmed any of them let alone seen them in a Sunderland shirt. Give me strength.
Bri, it's common sense at the moment to buy from abroad the players are technically streets ahead of English ones here and much cheaper as well. Posters of here like Poolie and Paulos pecs have been saying it for ages and its obvious to see. Look at the like of Michu and Benteke, Vertonghen and Mirallas, all supers players brought at a pittance. Yet we buy AJ and Fletch for 24m. I was happy with these guys at the time but we have been left behind by teams like Swansea, West Brom and Everton. Mon should have been looking further afield much earlier surely he could of noticed this as he's a very intelligent man. His transfer dealing in my eyes were way off imo. Yes we don't know if PDC signings will be any better yet but he is going about this the right way.
Argh! You don't get it do you, it's the clubs transfer policy that's been the problem not the managers. How can MoN look abroad if all Pop Robson's scouting reports are all domestic? Managers don't walk around with Football manager style databases in their head. They take their information from what's made available by the club through their transfer policy. If MoN had stayed, there is a high chance these same free agents would be coming in.
Sorry if I'm missing your point mate I am a bit slow by my own admission. You make it sound like Pop Robson just scouted randomly for the craic, he doesn't just do what he wants he gets his orders from higher up ie the manager or that's the way it should be. I'll think you will also find foreign managers do have a very good knowledge of players from abroad, look at Martinez, Moyes and Laudrup. They have all had successful seasons in one way or another and have all brought from abroad. Maybe not to a football manager extent but there you go. Do you think Danny Graham was scouted? Do you think Saha, McFadden were scouted? No they were mons signings and his alone.
Nah, mate it's me, big stress head today. I'm an emotional ****** I really am. No offence intended. Nah mate they weren't scouted. That's what was wrong with the old policy. I'd love to know what Pop Robson had been doing doing since he got here, Apart from Alfie he's managed to bring us Elmo and McLean. it's pathetic really. Suppose that lies with Bruce though. Our scouting network has been utterly pants. The new policy is looking much more up to date. Exciting times full of unknown quantities.
