If we're looking at keepers how about Speroni from Palace he's meant to be out of contract & a more than adequate backup/alternative to Green if Cesar's going.
He's about 93 now. I don't think green is good enough to be a clear number one. I'd like either a top young keeper and someone like speroni or players a like McCarthy or butland if we sign green.
I don't agree - I think Green is a confidence player and has visibly grown this season to overcome his previous fragility - there is no doubt he is a good keeper, and with the right defenders in front of him he is easily good enough to compete in the PL. I agree that we do need another back up, and not sure if we want another No1 as competition - we saw how divisive that was with Cesar, and to be honest I think we need to spend whatever funds we night have to strengthen elsewhere. A better/stronger/faster back 4 will give him the cover/support he needs. I think it's much more important to bring in a good CB to partner Ned. I would be pretty happy with Simpson, Ned, Mr X and YSY (with appropriate back-up)
Green is not good enough to be an undisputed #1 in the PL, plus the fact we don't want someone like Murphy having to play lots of games if he gets injured. We need two capable #1s because we can't bring in emergency loans. Hopefully not a 35 yo green and a 38 yo speroni.
Secure Adel and Get Ali Faurlin back playing both are good enough to play for any team in the Premier League Get Morrison, Dawson and Solly March ( The New Dave Thomas) Ruddy from Norwich to pressure Green Williams from the Swans I agree Rio for a season A few french lads up front and Mbia We will rock
Just can't agree - 2 No1's = too much conflict - is there another PL team who have the luxury of 2 first choice keepers?? Fair enough if you don't like green then I would say get rid and free up his substantial wages for a true no1 and a no2 - be interested to see some suggestions though? Edit (for both 1s and 2s)
...as an addition, I would say that Green has earned his shot at the PL... as a player that has gone through a relegation and a promotion (arguably as motm in the playoff final) he's an established part of the club now and at 35 is still in his prime as a keeper - I think this smacks of change for change's sake - we should be aiming for as much continuity as possible to maintain the fantastic 'band of brothers' team spirit that Clint so movingly described
out of those I would be happy with.. Morrison Williams March (not the finished article, needs to improve his final ball, but makes things happen (disclaimer: I see him week in week out at the Amex with my Seagull supporting son) Ferdinand - nothing to prove, last big payday wages - No Ruddy - No better than Green rather go for a real youngster prospect like Walton at BHAFC to understudy Green and play in the cups - No Dawson - Slow, big wages - No

The former Celtic striker is pictured here in action for Scunthorpe United Comments (0) FORMER Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper has demanded a transfer away from Norwich City after the Canaries were relegated from the Premier League, according to national reports. The Daily Mail suggests the £5 million forward is now a target for Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa after telling Carrow Road bosses he wants to quit the club. Hooper signed for Norwich from Celtic last summer on a three-year deal. After finishing the season as the club's top scorer with eight goals in 23 starts, he is understood to be keen on staying in the top flight with a different club. And the Mail reports Harry Redknapp's QPR and Paul Lambert's Villa are both ready to offer Hooper an instant return to the Premier League. The striker scored 50 goals in 88 starts during a two-year spell with Scunthorpe after signing from Southend United in July 2008. That form earned him a transfer to Celtic, where his 82 goals in 127 starts attracted the attention of Premier League clubs and he eventually decided on a move to East Anglia. 8 goals in 23 starts isnt bad return for striker from relegated team and we really need some quality cover for Austin
With Harry in charge and having zero tolerance for Adel taking the piss how long would he last(Not even pre-season last time).
Yeah, I'd take him. He didn't have a great time recently but he's still a quality striker who will do better in a club on the way up.
Dawson was on Talksport this morning with Alan Brazil and when asked about his new manager he said "I'm looking forward to working with him" Brazil replied "I think HR will be your next manager" There was no reply from Dawson................. ?? Make of that what you will chaps..........
