Going public and slating your employer is not going to help you get a new and improved contract. Talk about uncertainty and wanti g the situation sorted out soon is fair enough.

My money's on another innocuous interview, with any vaguely negative thing he says being twisted into a shocking headline, and anything positive glossed over. Much like the Victor article.

That's ok then. The board have pretty much said the same thing anyway. Hopefully we can get Koeman in within the next few days, the players can get the reassurances they need and we can maybe start looking at who we want to buy rather than sell.

Well, that's a decent start at least. Always respected him, as he took a step down to League One from a solid Championship side to join us. He's been with us from the start, seen managers come and go, and bought into the club from the early days. Never kicked up a fuss, and handled the Osvaldo thing pretty well.

And he's not the subject of massive transfer rumors and probably never will be so has no particular reason to complain. Always seemed a level-headed guy.

But if this turns out to be just about wanting a new contract or contract talks, I'm gonna be pretty annoyed.

Doubt he'd ever come out and publicly state he wants a contract.. Though I reckon that thought is in the back of his mind! As a player that wears his heart on his sleeve for the club, and to possibly see it ripped apart for what ever reason I can understand some angst.
He only wants the best for the club, and has to vent his concern some way.

Has he a year left or is he out of contract soon?

Agreed. I'm giving him the benefit of doubt. Maybe it's something simple, and we can get it fixed and move on.

Almost wish football were fake sometimes though, because this would be one of the greatest heel turns ever.

Full press room waits on Fonte statement, he steps up to the mic oh my gawd, that's Nicolas Cortese's music! Etc. etc.

Preferably [me] around Montpellier or Nimes, or even Avignon, or slightly further north in Uzès, so I can be nearer the Ardeche. Then again, I'd love to live in a coastal town like Mèze or Sète, or even one of the countless small villages.

Look, let's just say Southern France. :)

Don't know about the players, but I would like to thank the board for completely ****ing up the world cup for me.

Now, instead of seeing Southampton's Rickie Lambert scoring the winner in the final, I will have the pleasure of watching Liverpool's Rickie lambert!! :-(

I'm much happier since reading Rickie's letter...said he used to have only one club, but now has two:emoticon-0115-inlov His development to a top player is down to us, so he will be a Saint if he scores (of course, if he fluffs a penalty, he is Liverpool's :)).

Last game of the new season , Lambert steps up to take the penalty that will ensure Liverpool of a top 4 finish , but will relegate the saints............

Mate, in those circumstances, I'd hope his bloody leg falls off.

For me it would have to be the Luberon somewhere near Manosque.

I love travelling round Europe and, if I was better off, might like a few summer months somewhere beautiful, but live somewhere else permanently...never. Money to travel is what I'd like, but England is always my home.

The only reason I feel the same is that my family and friends are here and I couldn't leave them. There's nothing else attaching me to this country.

Thought you lived on the Ile de Blanc Fran. Isn't that technically in France?

I find it hard to put into words, but my roots are here...our history, art, architecture, sporting history run in my blood. Just went to Yarmouth for an appointment this morning...the sun was shining, people were saying hello to each other, shopkeepers were hanging goods on their shop fronts, people were cleaning windows, a flower show in an old church...small things, but so British. I love British people...the eccentrics, the grumpy old men, women baking cakes for charity, street parties, local cricket teams. Love holidays, but also love coming home.
