Were the Spurs players listed in a number of posts that good that they warranted a call-up to the England squad??
Hardly surprising... Happens all the time and we all know it. 4 or 5 players (sometimes Liverpool included) end up with "minor injuries" after their club game, miss the International and then appear for their club the next week. Normally manager's aren't bothered though as it's in their and the clubs interest. Redknapp is probably worried he's not getting much attention recently and feels needs to come out with an outrageous comment and make it seem like he's supporting England, just in case they get rid of Roy and he wants to get in there.
If its a player that only had up to five caps I'll be shocked. This will be seasoned pros that are squad players for England. The only player I'd accept it from in the scenario we're discussing is Ledley King. But still, why not just retire? It suggests the player only wanted to play in a tournament.
