    depends...

jenas had a great excuse to retire with dignity for one. Ie injuries.

if it were another player and you were say 20-22 and 6th in line... you go cos you might get a bigger club contract from the caps.

however.. say you have two matches in the week both friendlies... 12 subs will be used, you will wander on at half time of 60mins and play like a pub team.. say match 1 is away in anywhere in europe = hotel, flights... boring... match 2 is in wembley v oh i dunno france or something. agai n12 subs and a likely england beating as a resutl of so many subs.

do you turn in or do you fake injury... do you want to miss game 1 but play game 2.

finally... national service for the lot of em i say! f'm lazy spoiled brats. f the lot of them.

I actually thought the Buzz from England fans was rather restrained this year to be honest.
As was the inevitable fail and reaction.
This time was more of a thigh slap and an "Oh well, business as usual". I think England fans just might be starting to figure out where their team actually stands in the grand scheme of things.

it was in the real world but the were still a good number of fans going and doing the usual.

i remember laughing at the last sunday supplement when the lying bartards all said QF for england. god i thought it was rich.

If england had a good manager and this group the fans would have being going wild.

If they had a gimmie group and hodgos in think they would not be so wild.

But i still believe there's a good number "hoping" and the press still build it up.

    So?

If england fans were not complete ****ing morons ( the majority ) they might want too.

I cant imagine many of the players have much fun playing for England, which is what it should be about at the end of the day. The bellends who pick on a player.

Bar one or 2 players who are never held accountable, most must consider playing for england a nightmare.

    I blame YOU.

Your country has decided your the best player in a group of 23 to play for England, how is that not an honour?

Think about the amount of English players we have and they narrowed it down to you to play, it would be my dream tbh.

Have you ever played sport at a high level? I'm not having a go, genuinely want to know to try and understand where you're coming from.

gerrard of 10 years ago would have dragged everyone out of thier rooms and beaten them until they fessed up.

I blame the 3 daughters... clearly he's been deballed at this point.

  12. Can't see any player admitting it. If they were prepared to face the backlash then why not just retire from International football rather than trying to "get out of it"...?

It might well have been players on early call ups say between 1-5, so you couldn't really use 'retire' in that situation. There's been countless 'injuries' though, which are cases of managers getting players out of it.

    i dunno.

i have a kind of timetable of lazyness in my mind

say young 20s and you've 10-20 caps max.. as in cricket terms you would be just "getting in" so i would expect it to be rare that someone getting into the group would be trying to avoid. especially as raising profile raises their ability to get a big club deal.

then there's the 24-27s who would be say hitting 40-50 caps.. they are in they are the man. I can see them avoiding things for sure. they already have the big deal.

then theres 29-32. frankly they can have injuries, miles on clock etc and either fear being dropped or haven't got it to play all these games. These surely shoudl be the retirees.

It'd be very annoying if someone like ox or sterling or barkely (spread the annoyance round) were to already be dodging. playing a WC attracts the big clubs!

It's Spurs players we're talking about in a 4 year period, that right? So basically Woodgate, Bentley, Walker, Parker and Crouch - only the last two got into double figures in caps for England.

I wouldn't say crouch... He begs for call ups

I would say parker, wood gate and don't forget huddleston

    Walker I dunno

It's easy. If you don't want to play for your country, fine. Just don't dilly-dally on an "as-I-feel" basis and rob other players (who are consistently proud of the honour) of the more prestigious matches.

In fact, a player that calls up the England manager with a bad excuse for not playing San Marino should be told by said manager "Stay home for the world cup, too". It's a matter of principle.

Lamber and Lallana are exempt as they were not given sufficient time!
