The club was so low at the end of the 90's that there was no expectation left so the great escape was just a pure joy, Whitney & Whittle, all heroes.
That's him. The crowning turd of his **** heap of a performance was the perfectly executed header across goal for an Ipswich tap in. Quite why I liked your post is beyond me. The nightmares will start up again, the deranged mutterings. In keeping with the title of this thread, I cannot remeber my thoughts of him prior to that game. Afterwards, I wished never to see him again in a City shirt.
Danny Coles actually looked a decent player when he came in, but then got an ACL knee injury that kept him out for a year and he never looked the same again.
He was having a fairly average game one Saturday when the ball went out near East Stand. The crowd was very quiet as he went to collect the ball for a throw in, and some 14 year old wannabe dickhead behind me shouted “Stewart, you’re ****”. He didn’t react but he had to have heard him, and I swear he went downhill from then on. To have your own fans get on your back like that must have killed any confidence he had.
Richard Jobson. Went awol before even playing for us, but what a player he turned out to be. Very telling that the first game after we sold him was a 5-1 defeat at Hillsborough with City fans singing his name.
Malloy Lord suffered a lot worse and turned things round. Could never question his commitment whatever was happening.
It's proper sad but I love reminiscing about old, random players. Someone in the office just started talking about Michael Keane and he was a player that I had totally forgotten about!
Who was the little Welsh left back we got from Everton? Total pisshead who went on to play for Ferriby?
i think the change happened when he went from being right-back to being central defender. huge change.
i remember when he came back from injury that he looked almost scared to tackle. i've seen it in other players too.
