Is there anyone from the three relegated sides that anyone would like us to bring in? Trying to pick a couple from each. Norwich: Redmond Hoolihan Mags: Townsend Wijnaldum Villa Ayew Gueye
This theme was recently brought up and for me it is a definite no, we should stop signing players from recently relegated clubs, end of. They have been relegated for a reason, they are probably not good enough.
As a Norwich local I can tell you Redmond is not good enough and Hoolahan is too old. The only player I would take off Norwich is Klose. From the mags, Townsend and possibly Mitro / Perez. I used to think Wijnaldum but I've heard alot from mags recently that his attitude is ****e. Ditto Janmaat. From Villa, the two you've listed are fairly decent though neither would be first-teamers for me. I'd also take Amavi as backup to PVA.
I would at no point ever sign anyone from Newcastle or was ex Newcastle. It just doesn't work these days. I think Redmond is a great shout depending on price. He tormented Watford last night. He's still rough around the edges but is only young.
Lots of good players but it depends what you want from them, if you're planning to be in another scrap then you should probably avoid most of them, especially the Villa ones. Naismith isn't a bad option from Norwich for example, he'll probably be good either way. Gestede also, if you could get him cheap enough he's Allardyce material. Not gonna mention the Newcastle ones as it's just not gonna happen realistically.
Steven Taylor from nufc we need someone to clean the boots although I certainly don't think he will make the bench
I was gutted when they got Naismith, really rated him. Apparently though he played well for his first game (against Liverpool...) and just hasn't been arsed since. I'd steer well clear. Gestede is a decent shout, although I'd be worried if we were relying on him starting games. A good option from the bench imo.
Hopefully already gone. Just watched the interview with Sam on another thread and it looks like he is telling those players who have no future at the club that they will be moved on.
Nope. Nope. And nope. Wouldn't have any of them. We need to be aiming higher, or we will be in the position every year.
Tbf he only ever came in as a last resort 3rd choice keeper as we lost Pants, and he has come out and said he is happy to come in train, pass on help to Pickford and be 3rd choice. Can't blame Sam for signing him, we'd be ****ed if we'd lost Mannone and Pickford...
I'm sure I could be arsed to stroll into work 3-4 days a week, keep myself fit and help out a little, knowing I'm never going to be called on to actually earn my salary and still have the nerve to call that work. At 10 grand a week!!!!
Some people just don't know the meaning of the word "work". At least Sam in his interview said he had been blessed with the life he has had. Others just take it for granted that it is their given right to an easy life as a pro footballer.....****, i wish i had been
