Look on the bright side, at least Sammy will be back......<ok>

One of the best decisions by Charnley last summer - two year contract for Sammy and loan him out to Cardiff, checking out the competition before the inevitable relegation followed. Foresight at its best.

Some of the crap wont be that easy to move on.
Gouffran is on around £45k per week, so why would he consider upping sticks.
Championship is probably his level, so they may be quite happy to keep him anyway.

    Unlikely, but you never know.
Saying that in 13/14 he scored Seven Goals, only one less than Mitroplank has scored this season.

There are a few who could end up like that - if we're lucky. It's more likely to be our average players than so-called good ones who will be our best assets next year. Some of the stars might surprise us and show commitment to wanting to get us back up, but I am not holding my breath. For others, and I am thinking of the likes of Gouffran, Shelvey, Mitrovic, Perez and possibly Dummett, a spell in the championship might be just what they need to kick start a return to form and confidence and give the foreign lads a bit more time and space to adapt to the English game. If anyone in our squad thinks they are too good for the championship then they are already not good enough for the championship.

Just to clarify - that doesn't mean I'd want to extend Gouffran or Riviere's contract once they run out - whatever division we are in.

Just as well, we could be in League 1, before their contracts are up...

Hopefully we can keep hold of Thauvin then. He did well against Northampton.

Seeing lists of players going, not too many names I would be sad to see the back of, only one that keeps popping up is Townsend and even that is not guaranteed. A good club with ambition would tell Mitrovic to stay and we'd turn him into the next Andy Carroll (transfer to Liverpool wise).

I really do believe that a year in the Championship will do Mitro a world of good.
He'd bully the **** out of some of the CB's in that league.

We can't/won't sell everyone. I doubt we're going to sell/release 15 players so there will be a couple of the bigger names that will end up staying.

This is correct; we won't be the only ones aware that our players are sub-PL standard. A few will be released, and more than a few we don't want will still hang around. That said, I think we all agree Cisse, Tiote, Wijnaldum, Sissoko and Janmaat will not be playing in the Championship. At least four of those won't be at the club regardless, I don't think. And we have no idea whether the transfer policy will change, whether we've spent all of our money, and so on. We might be hoovering up some freebies.

What would be nice is to keep that current back four intact. Very useful in the Championship, that. There's every chance we could line up in the next division down like this:

Hard to see how that wouldn't be the best team in the division. That's selling the five I mentioned. So a bench of Darlow, Coloccini (final year), Haidara, Saivet, Aarons, Gouffran and Armstrong is a good start without even touching the transfer market.

I'd throw Armstrong into the mix too. A lot will depend on who our manager is. We may well start playing 2 up front. At least we won't need to worry about finding a championship club to loan Armstrong out to.

I honestly would rather cover my exposed and expertly shave balls in Jam and dance through 1000 bee hives than see Colo near the team again.
I have an irrational hatred for him.
He has hung around too long as the memory of him is now tarnished.

Agreed, he would get more chances leading to more goals, don't forget up to February the last time we were in that league Carroll was hopeless yet a year later he got a transfer to Liverpool for £35 million, served him better than players like Martins, Beye and Bassong who all left.

    Hopefully Mitroplank will be gone.
If not, maybe they'll make the goals a bit bigger for the useless knacker.

What happened to Doumbia? Has he actually played for you guys since he joined?

Wijnaldum looked decent and was potentially only one i'd be interested at Liverpool although not sure where his best position is? Seems too lightweight to be in the middle of midfield.

Thauvin for £7m? Again, has he played for you this season, no idea who would pay £7m for him?! Similar for Janmaat, looked decent when he first joined you guys but seems to have regressed a lot since then.

You'll do well to get £8m for Krul. Can't see any Prem club wanting him, and foreigners aren't as extravagant with their money as we are in England.
