Having watched the highlights I reckon that beautifully flighted pass flicked the defender's thigh which caused it to loop over another defender who otherwise would have cleared it easily. But how did Austin miss that chance? At the time I thought the keeper got a touch, but now I don't think so; if only he'd have scuffed his shot.
He obviously has the self-belief to hit the ball instinctively first-time, it's what separates the out and out predator from the average...
Hi Roller - I don't think we are too far off from agreement. Particularly disagree re: SWP however. He set up the goal, set up a very clear chance for Austin, and looked lively all game. Suspect that he will never win with some. Maybe I was too quick to give O'Neil MOM, but he was outstanding when he was on. Agree that if it's not him, then it's Barton.
Agree regarding swp also, I thought he played well set up fair few chances , Austin will score bucket loads I'm sure his positioning and instinct to be in the right place at right time was plain to see .
Good summary, Raving. Agree with most of it. Zamora's 5 was justified because they guy is walking wounded and I can't see that changing. Hard on Austin for a 6 imo - he didn't have the best of games, but I wouldn't give him less than say, Hill or Henry. I share your enthusiasm for O'Neil, as most posters have. In the heady days when Portsmouth were in the Prem, I singled him out as a special player - looks like he still is. Nice one, Harry!
