Austin was the clear man of the match for me. Apart from his coolly taken goal, he dominated their defence, won headers, controlled the ball on his chest and brought other players into the match on countless occasions and never let their defenders settle on the ball. He also won a good number of defensive headers from their set pieces and even made a last ditch tackle when one of their players was threatening to reach the dead ball line and cross. A fantastic centre forwards performance.
I know I only watched on a shaky stream but was impressed by Carroll, he goes about his work in an efficient way and he allows Barton to play his more expansive game....I think it was _eth who descriped him as Joey's gopher.....a suitable description. Austin is turning into the complete centre forward, the complete opposite of BZ, he can hold the ball up, win headers up front and in defence, make solid tackles, put pressure on defenders and knows how to score goals......we are fortunate to have him. BAE is a wonderful player, looks casual but knows what he is doing......
