Very strange, a bit like how they always made a big issue of Pepe Reina winning the golden gloves (whatever they may be) for three years in a row like it meant something and was compensation for not winning any actual silverware. Whatever gets them through the mire of mediocrity called their season I suppose.
The golden glove is a head scratcher all right - most clean sheets? Why not give it to the goalkeeper who concedes the fewest per game? It would be like the golden boot going to the striker who scores in the most games, rather than the striker who scores the most goals. And surely the award should go to the defence, as it's generally the defenders who make the biggest contribution to the award. Still, looks like they'll have a golden boot to **** over this summer. Which will allow them to place Suarez on a pedestal alongside such luminaries as Berbatov, Anelka, Phillips, Owen, Dublin and Sutton. All of which were quite patently in the top ten in the world of course
Personally I would rank Suarez in the top 5 in the world, alongside Gareth Bale, Neymar, Sergio Busquets and Tom Daley.
Yeah I've thought about that Golden Glove calculation too... But if they worked on conceding the fewest per game, they would have to incorporate a minimum no of games to play in, say 25 games... So if you really want to win it you just don't play in the 13 toughest games of the season, and you're virtually a shoe-in if you're in a half decent team. So I can understand why they made it no of clean sheets, but it is a bit of a weird award...
This I cannot recall a similar campaign for POTY before. I know that the scousers are now no longer a top team, but to put all your energy to get some reflected glory in getting player of the year? will it now count as a trophy: " we didn't win the FA cup, the COC, the league, the Europa but at least we got the POTY". This is how low their club has sunk. TO lobby for a cheat and punshed rac1st to get an award...He should be in competition with Tom Daley. POTY in their dreams...perhaps
Something I read the other day that I didn't realise was that even though Suarez has scored almost half of Liverpool's total goal tally on his own, the team still wouldn't of dropped as many points without him as United would of without RVP. To be fair it's a pretty pointless fact but I have to admit I was still surprised by it considering Suarez has scored something like 45% of Liverpool's goals compared to RVP who less than 30% of United's.
The problem with your attempted wind ups is that they are so poorly thought through that you actually make a tit of yourself. No prizes for guessing which PL team has been awarded the most penalties this season.
No it's the fact that he would be overlooked even if he did deserve it unless it is pointed out that he may actually be the best plyer in the league this season. It's a conspiracy in the making that we are trying to out before it happens.
Yep - it's only been around for a few years so it's a bit like someone just wanted to make up a new award. Maybe they had five minutes to kill at the end of the awards dinner? I've pointed this out before - the vast majority of Suarez' goals come in games Liverpool are walking. Hattricks against Wigan and Norwich when they scored five, braced against QPR, Sunderland and Wigan when they won all games 3-0, late goals against Fulham and Swansea in games they'd already won. Whereas RVP and Bale both seem to score in games when it's much tighter and their teams really need the goals. It's always a conspiracy Tho' I think the real conspiracy would be if the award is actually decided by the vocal backing Liverpool have given to Suarez. Quite obvious now that if he wins it that will only be because of the pressure Liverpool have put on all the voters. Shocking.
Not at all he deserves it based on his performance unless RVP gets back on form at that point it will be down to the powers that be.
So the first goal against spurs didn't matter because we didn't need it? Same with the one against Everton? Should have scored the winner against City at home but Skrtel ****ed up,or about the tying goal against Chelsea, maybe the two against Zenit when he was damn near single handledly getting us to the next round and had Carra not ****ed up would have? Opening goal against Arsenal but not important right? Got us through against Hearts to get into the group stage. Your right swarbs, never scores when it is important. For all the games you give about "easy" games, he has goals where we needed them and against the big boys. I know this won't change your opinion but you have belted on about it all year and yet he does against minnows and the best. Can't have it both ways.
So far in I could taste my buccinator. Tho' luv doesn't seem to have noticed Bit defensive there Bluff - I never said his goals didn't matter. I simply pointed out he has scored a lot more goals in situations which didn't matter as much, and his goals have been less valuable to the team than those of Bale and RVP. You can try to explain it away by other players ****ing up as much as you want, but it still stands and it's why he's won fewer points for Liverpool despite scoring more goals. It would have been easy for RVP to go "I scored against Southampton but our defence ****ed up so it's not my fault if we lose" But he didn't - he kept on and scored two vital goals in the last five minutes to turn no points into three points. Ditto Bale against West Ham or Newcastle. It's not the worst criticism in the world, and I know he has scored some important goals, but it seems to me that in the last 15-20 minutes of a tight game where the big players stand up and be counted, Suarez tends to get frustrated and is more likely to be booked or tumble than try to score. Even against Zenit, where his quality and work had gotten you right back into the game, he spent the last 15 minutes barging and arguing and stamping.
Obvioulsy got to you..hahaha F**k off this board if you don't like what's being said of your rac1st idol, you ******ed delusional rac1st supporting cvnt. You didn't have to rise to the bait...
