Best one I can remember was from Cricket.

In the early nineties Mark Waugh, despite his talent, could not really get into the Aussie team alongside his brother Steve, who was making a huge impact and would soon be captain.

Mark became known in and around the team as 'Afghanistan' the forgotten war!

Shane Watson was never short of confidence and a bit of a know it alll apparently so his teammates nicknamed him FIGJAM -
