I can only go on what I've seen of the highlights and the fact is that they took your Centre Backs to the cleaners numerous times. You were lucky not to have conceded a second pen as it was clearly a penalty. I was amazed by some of your fellow 606ers predictions on this game. 5-1 hammering etc! You need to beat teams like Wigan to stay up and on the evidence of yesterday you are in for a long hard season. As for us I am under no illusions that we will are still a mid table side and the result yesterday obviously did nothing to dispel my belief. Wether or not PJ will start playing more positive tactics at home and be able to get in 2 decent CB's remains to be seen.
A more positive 442 would have helped us yesterday, if anything it would have brought JET more in to the game and playing in his favoured position he may have put some effort in! But I think PJ wanted to play witha DM to protect the shaky defence. Not really concerned with the result as I think our squad will be a lot stronger in a months time, I just hope our weaknesses don't cost us too much before they're put right.
Is it going to be like this after match? Win and we will be promoted, lose and the sky is falling down. We were left in a **** state after Keane and PJ is busy putting things right. It can't all be done over the course of a few weeks but many people think it can. Some people on here really do my head in sometimes with their over reactions and 'to extremes' behaviour. It's always has to be black or white, hot or cold with nothing in between. It's obvious what the team needs (CB's etc) and I'm sure PJ is doing all he can do bring the right players in so do we need to discuss the same issues on every thread. Previous managers have been blamed for panic buying and paying over the odds for players and now that PJ is trying to do things the right way then that's not good enough either. There really seems to be no pleasing some of the posters on here, I think some like to moan just for the sake of it. Rant over
Completely right San Diego. We are not in the best of positions at the moment in terms of playing staff but this is because in the main of the mess we were left in by Keane. We've lost 3CB's over the summer when its wasn't a strong position for us anyway, along with the fact that every position has had to be strengthened by Jewell over the summer. I think Jewell has done a very good job since he has taken over and we have to have patience, he's clearly not getting players in for the sake of it. We still need major strengthening to progress toward the goal of the premier league. Jewell has already signed 8 players and in the main they have been very good signing. I think some people forget how bad things were last season and what a terrible mess Keane had left us in, we have basically had to buy a whole new team and still need more players. This is going to take a while to get right and I'm pretty sure that it won't be this season. With the amount of new faces at the club in a short amount of time, we are going to be very inconsistent for the next few months. I am confident that this time next year at the earliest we will have a very strong team who will be ready to challenge at the top of this division. No everything is not rosy in the garden at the moment but Jewell is doing a very good job in trying to make it rosy in the garden.
So WTF is he buying older players that will need replacing again next summer! If he's building a solid team surely he must go out and get some younger talented players.
But he also needs to make sure that we have enough current talent to compete in this league this season, i think we will be alright this season maybe an up and down couple of months while the team settle in and then we can challenge........ COYB...
Exactly Weighty, we needed to get players in just to compete this season and every team needs a bit of experience in it. I think so far he has got a good blend of youth and experience.
