Got loads on mine the same, supporting Chelsea, Arsenal, Utd etc. and only have an interest in Hull when we start doing well! What angers me even more is that they live in Hull so could easily go to every home game and support their team, and I can't make the games but would kill to be able to go to every game.
Exactly, I can watch football on the telly and enjoy it, likewise if my partner drags me to Boro games I can enjoy watching it, but there's no way you can feel the same passion about a team if it's not your local team. It's about so much more than football, it's local pride. How people can feel any passion whatsoever towards teams where they've never been to the ground and have no connection with the area I have no idea.
This reminds me actually, the last city match I went to I had a group of teenage lads sat behind me, must have been about 14/15. A couple of these lads started debating what the rugby markings on the pitch were for. One muppet genuinely believed they were for the football. They also proceeded to spout some bollocks about how crap half of our players were. Not only did they seem to know nothing about City, they clearly didn't have a clue about football either!
There is no way I would have sat through last nights match if I wasn't a City supporter. I like watching football on TV but for a neutral that was awful.
It is for reasons such as this that I now never watch City in a Pub - would like to but feel like twatting half of them that are a combination of eggchasers with an adopted top six PL side or middle aged plastics that support such teams. Both types seem to lack any cash (sorry to appear being snobbish) - overheard a couple in my local recently say 'if your lot win tomora (Manu Chelski Liverpool et al) you will do 'us ' a big fvaour' - in almost all cases they have probably never ever been to OT Anfield etc and almost certainly not Stamford Bridge. Makes me sick and angry that anyone from Hull could adopt another Club but they have no respect for the City and tend to be worthless individuals. Sorry for the rant.
I simply do not understand people born and bred in Hull who support Hull FC / Rovers and also claim to support Man U/Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal/Man City/ Whoever won the premier league last season
My take on this is that they kinda like football being our national game but for some reason decide to watch rugby league on the basis its cheaper to watch, more local than City, easier to win games, whilst adopting a top six PL Club is equally easier to support a winning side... may be wrong..
Football is full of plastic fans, especially since Sky Sports got involved. We just need to accept it, it's part of the game and we had better get used to it for next season in the premiership
