Is that not because of all the movies full of Americans with American accents in that they watch and pick up a lot of their English from?
My guess would be it is because Americans teach English in that country. Thai's that speak English do so with more of an English accent because Americans do not generally teach here so much
Yeah, that sounds pretty reasonable and I'm sure is a reason behind it - I still bet Hollywood has a big influence as well however
the fact that from the early part of the 20th century it was an American possession until after the war, plus their very large military presence there until the Pinutubo eruption in '91. mostly they play baseball and basketball, so the yank influence is large. i lived outside their air base at Clark for four years, they had more servicemen on there, 51,000, than our entire RAF.
