Maybe, Beddy, but both do now. Manchester is a large area and has two good football teams...GMI is having one of his arguments for arguments sake.
You are confusing the issue by saying you have to make a judgement. We are not talking about Law or individuality. You asked a question about so called plastic fans are they middle class. Middle class as opposed to what? Why is there a need to make a judgement on class at all. You certainly would be making a judgement if at a football match you looked at your neighbor and decided he was one class or another. I can almost guarantee nobody goes into a football ground to discover what classification they would give to any individuals!! Why are you so insistent on trying to classify people....Plastic.....Middle class.....and so on. What on earth is wrong with people that prefer to be a fan at home. Surely that is their right do we need a classification for the stay at home fans for what ever reason?
That Fran....... answers his question pretty well spot on.....Nothing else is needed or asked for..........
Class, the great English obsession, is a total red herring in this context. A very small number of people the world over own most of the wealth, the rest of us work hard to get by.
OMG, I must be having a boring day, having just read through this thread. I have read some pointless threads before, I may have even started a few, but this one has to take the biscuit !!!! Why does anybody care. Support who you want, support how you want (as long as its legal), and just enjoy it!
I can't believe it took me so long to realize that was what he was doing. He made a mountain out of an irrelevant molehill to distract us from the fact that everyone was disproving his original arguments. Strangely, he never acknowledged any of the posts that prove United have way more fans in Manchester. Slippery bugger.
Oh man, I'm way too hungover to read all of this... can someone summarise and tell me who I need to ban. Thanks
No matter where you might want it to be, Old Trafford is not in Salford. That's all there is to it. As usual, you just can't say "Yes, I'm wrong". Vin
I'm assuming this is why, when we were in L1, we were only able to fill Wembely to near capacity, the JPT had average gates over 150% higher and the previous seasons and we got an average attendance that would have made some PL clubs very happy... clearly our plastic fans couldn't be bothered to turn up. Not like pompey, hard core working class. filling the stadium week in week out through thick and thin....
I am not, Bassett/Stoneham is so much more upper class than St. Marys and less distance for me to walk.
