I had my first bike crash on green street, good job I was so young as crossbars hurt.
I have lived in London since 79 but have been back in Consett for the last 2 years and checked with a couple of mates; one delivers meds all over the area and the other worked on house maintenance. Both said it is one of the best areas of Leadgate.
My own family are London based and they love the area.

You’re probably thinking of the Punch Bowl at Satley , out of Lanchester on the road if you were going to Wolsingham . Now converted into houses , as is the other pub Satley had.

From what I can see , I don’t think it’s changed in decades. Always looks peaceful and quiet .

Saturday gone we were in Consett, went from Barry's Bargains in the centre to (the extremely poorly signposted) Knitsley Farm Shop in Delves Lane. Their sausages are class, as is their home made corn beef, their corn beef pasties, particularly nice those, their scotch eggs were canny, and their cakes are huge. I've just finished a chocolate snowball, probably as big as well, my stomach now, and there's a ham and pie, and . . .
