I'm not crying about the ref, just the analysis that propagated the usual lie that all their mistakes benefit Liverpool. Very like the Palace away game last year: they showed three Palace shouts, only one of which was actually foul and that was outside the area, yet completely ignored the one clear penalty in the game when Coutinho had a header punched off the line.

    Perfect summing up.

No lfc player blocking off interference with keeper. Mingolet allowing himself to be held.

    Always the little details.

Yes. Probably owns a half n half Uniturd/Blueshite scarf too, which is why Tobes feels so motivated to excuse him.

There was a clear shirt-pull on Salah which led to the penalty incident so it should never have happened in the first place. But what's it matter? They were given the penalty and it was saved so it didn't affect the outcome of the game.

That's the point. I've no complaints about the pen, but even savage on 5 Live was swatting down various Leicester fans and Liverpool - haters (BBC Salford) by reminding them of the rule change re red cards, and, eventually, he admitted that Migs had been clearly fouled for their first and Lovren had probably deserved a pen as much as Vardy. No such even-handedness from MOTD though, no matter how painfully forced in the case of 5 Live.

Utter bollocks that. The post match analysis started with 2 minutes of waxing lyrical about Coutinho. It then discussed the Vardy penalty - which was a penalty - Keown said he thought it was a red, the others disagreed with him. They then looked at the handball and agreed that it probably wasn't a penalty despite the movement towards the ball. You're only seeing what you want to see.

Because it wasn't a foul on the keeper ffs, not even Mignolet appealed for it! They were appealing for offside <laugh>

Keown said he thought it was a red anywhere else on the pitch - how the **** is he considered some sort of 'expert'? And BT DID show Okazaki holding Migs, and discussed it (same as the Palace decisions last season that I referred to). The fact that MoTD chose to ignore any incidents that didn't suit their 'Poor team that plays Liverpool' narrative again doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Okazaki didn't hold him though, watch the MOTD rerun and see the angle which faces the keeper. Mignolet just made a dogs arse of it.

I've just watched it over again. It's not clear, but it certainly looks like Okazaki has hold of him just before he jumps. He was certainly impeding him, but it's the sort of thing that you can get away with more often than not.
On a side note, blatant dive by Vardy that got Matip booked earlier on. He leans into the defender, throws his leg at him, then makes a flying leap to the ground. <doh>

The fact that it's often overlooked is irrelevant. If you're going to scrutinise every 'incident' then it belongs in the discussion every bit as much as the Can handball and the suggestion that Migs should have been sent off; and even a hyper-ventilated Robbie Savage conceded that.

Why does the same never apply to defenders, who are always praised for taking the man if replays show they got a microscopic contact on the ball with their lace first?

And why does it never apply to goalkeepers punching players in the face after punching the ball?

Very surprising to see years of precedent all overturned for the sake of giving a penalty against Liverpool. Again.

He was holding onto Mignolet so long he was offside when the ball came to him

Vardy should have been sent off, first yellow for kicking an opponent to manufacture the dive, second yellow for claiming it was a foul

One thing I'm glad about is Coutinho scoring. I hope we see more goals from him this season, that he can put all the events of the last few weeks behind him. I'm sure he'll get to Barca one day, though.

I'm also pleased for Henderson, who's had poor press of late
