Joyner released his best tracks and hyped the rest of the album like something huge was coming, kept everyone waiting and then it dropped like a stinking jonny full of spunk.

Name the last album released by any hip hop artist that you could listen to front to back without a skip...

Pre-2005 I reckon I could name about 10-15 easy. After then I’d struggle to name 1. The genre has changed and it’s on its arse.
Probs Kendrick Lamar. Good Kid BAAD city. Think that was 2015. But even that was a rare gem in a sea of banal ****.

A proper hip hop album with sick flows and a strong message just seems confined to the past now. Next big thing to blow up will probs come from the streets of Aleppo or Mogadishu.
I think it goes beyond hip hop, when was the last album that was great from start to finish, I can only think of one in the last 5 years.

Yes Lawd - Anderson Paak & Knxledge

Probs more of a Hip Hop/Soul/Electronic/R&B album. But a banger from start to finish.

Edit: That was released in 2016 !

Not many though is the point, the whole music industry is money and marketing a look. The actual music isn't that important to them.

Yup, it's all about singles downloads, image and tik toks as far as I can see. Seems to reflect the modern consumption of media, which is short burst social media led stuff, before moving onto the next thing.

The act of sitting down and playing an Album from start to finish, preferably with a good rum and a spliff, seems to be a dying art.

Listen to me, I'm a right old fart <laugh>

Outkast are a brilliant outfit. Andre 3000 is one of the most underrated performers out there imo

My fave outkast track

One of the best ****in horn melodies ever

And yeah Kelis is a hottie.

It was a massive commercial/pop success, but Milkshake was a ****in banger.

One of those records that will stay fresh forever.

Went batshit crazy and lives in a tent in africa now.

Or that might be someone else

Was a bit of a sleeper this album. But it's a ****in hip hop/jazz classic imo

Think the band changed their name to Crown City Rockers a couple of years after it was released. I managed to kop a copy when they were still called Mission, so I think it's worth a fair bit now too.
