Of course. But nobody fondly remembers Austria 2002 either. It also leaves a bad taste to be doing so early in the year, must be very demoralising for Perez.
Alonso and Hamilton both driven some stormers today. So disappointed that we’ve got the same 3 teams fighting out clearly at the top. Thought these new regs would give chances to Alpine, Macca etc but even after the upgrades the gap is significant isn’t it.
Nice. 3/4 on for merc. Bottas is utter toast. Has mick Schumacher been most passed driver of the day? I swear he's has old tyres all day and been seeing people pit, go behind and then sail by him all day.
Ferrari starting to look a little under pressure in the championship fight aren’t they. Haven’t maximised their results on race day from great qualifyings, Merc have maximised their points whilst they were **** and how they do look to have emerged from the shadows, and Red Bull seem to have tyre management sewed up. I do think they’ll win Monaco in a canter but traditional tracks could be tougher unless they solve the tyre wear and drag.
Nah. Not a chance. Clearly 3rd best car. You can say without the brat spinning, without sainz spinning and without le clerc engine blow and all. Let's take the top performance to go from 19th to 4th. Absolutely top having considered retirment there and having to be told to go for it. He should take a kick from this big time if he wants to use it.
If I were perez I'd not pop the champers and pass it to the pit team and walk off after giving due respect to organisers. I'd blank the brat and whoever is sent up there as constructor trophy picker.
Max will this championship quite easy if he doesn't have any more reliability problems, if Mercedes car gets quicker that help him to as Ferrari probably have the 3rd best car by the halfway mark in the season. 2017 and 2018 seasons there in season development is the reason they failed to win the titles.
Ferrari reminds me of Renault of alonso when he won his first. Best traction but not best overall. Ferrari should have won this here. Sainz had a rotten start and spun. Leclerc was miles ahead when engine went. This is a high downforce track where that traction and stability they have counts. Redbull is faster at high end but not as stable imo but is slammed to ground and heavier. Merc looks 3rd best engine from other teams performance and now have just added finally some stability but the car is still not as good through corners as the others who have had months getting it right to develop from. Red bull should win every low downforce race as the development money runs out. Ferrari as good at high downforce but not as good with tyre management. Mercs are maximising everything they can there. Bad luck at the end for Hamilton to have to give up 4th to get home but it was great. I have switched off sky as horner and the brat started the radio love in. Not interested in the celebrations at this point unless sits drama. Great race. Not listening to the revisionist calm brat act after listening to him whinge, moan and breath his team as they calmly tried to explain how to press a button properly.
Did Perez ever think he would not have to give way to max if he was in front? He was only employed as max's wing man and sacrificial lamb!
Obviously, there were a lot of dramas at the front to help him, but making up 30 seconds on the lead is still seriously impressive. Even without the offs/dnfs i don't think he'd have ended up much further behind Leclerc than he was by the end of lap 1. We'll see how the next few races go, but I'm now pretty sure this won't be a winless year for Lewis. The car is 3rd best, but now quick enough to capitalise on others misfortune.
I’d love the interviewer to ask George as it won’t be him or Lewis winning the world champion who he would like to do it. I want George to reply Charles and when asked why to say, it’s because Max is a dislikeable **** on and off the track, Horner is a total prick and Marko is a piece of ****, and they ****ed Sergio over for the win to give it to the crybaby.
I'd pin 2018 on the driver. If there's a crumb of comfort for Ferrari it's that their upgrades are working. Leclerc had race pace again after looking pretty far off in the last two races.
It'd have been a totally different strategy. Russell showed what was spossiboe playing the long drive medium tyres and Hamilton had a bit of fun getting the red stripe tyres there and charging. Hamilton did brilliantly to maximise his recovery during the first thalf of the race to be able to go for the hammer time. The reality is Russell has the same car and sat there in 2nd a second a lap slower than le clerc who also changed strategy with the big lead. A lot of cars were stretching runs so the brave strategy worked well today. Very hot so hard and fast then change tyres worked better. Its rare the conditions allow it but today Hamilton and sainz benefitted. The nice thing is Russell also got the red stripes and sailed into 3rd again. Hamilton could indeed benefit at a high downforce track esp if mad max bashes leclerc when the pressure comes on. At some point bother can go off together. Perez and sainz are very takeable due to mistakes as well. Russell seems to have the cleaner more consistent approach to the car so far so he has also a big big chance at a race win if the race falls his way. If gasly can... well.. anything is possible.
"Checo, Max is faster than you" Release 2.0. History repeats itself. Things like this make me dislike F1.
Max was leading. Took at Pitstop. Got up behind perez in no time. It was inevitable. Red Bull wanted no risk.
Watching the c4 highlights and the first thing I see is these clowns racing Tom Cruise at Silverstone. Now we’ve got them bullshitting the viewer for another 10mins before they decide to start showing the race. We know who’s on pole, show the race and do your interviews etc after it finishes. What happened to Billy Monger was tragic but why is he on here, is it for the sympathy vote?
